Jonathan Majors, an actor, has been convicted of assaulting his former girlfriend in New York following a legal proceedings.

Majors, who is famous for portraying Kang in the Marvel franchise, was found guilty by the jury of assaulting British choreographer Grace Jabbari in March following an altercation.

During the court case, she stated that she had suffered a broken finger, bruises, a wound behind her ear, and an unbearable discomfort.

Majors is now looking at a potential jail sentence of up to one year. Additionally, there is uncertainty surrounding his involvement in future Marvel movies where he was expected to play a leading role.

On Monday, the conclusion reached by a six-member jury was shared after they debated for three days.

A criminal offense occurred while the couple was inside a vehicle in New York. Ms. Jabbari caught a glimpse of a text message on Majors' phone from an unknown woman that stated, "I wish I could be kissing you at this moment."

The prosecutors reported that after the woman seized the phone, he immediately seized her and forcefully twisted her arm and struck her head in order to retrieve it.

Ms Jabbari stated that she experienced a strong impact on her head.

The panel of judges declared that he was responsible for committing two out of the four accusations of domestic violence that were brought against him.

He was convicted of assault for causing physical harm through reckless behavior and also of harassment.

However, the jury decided not to find him guilty for the offenses of aggravated harassment and assault with the intention of causing bodily harm.

The legal team presenting the case depicted the attack as the most recent instance of Majors' efforts to dominate his girlfriend by using physical and emotional abuse. They presented evidence in the form of recorded conversations and text messages between the ex-partners to the members of the jury.

In September 2022, the actor expressed feelings of being a monstrous and terrible person who lacked the ability to love. In addition, they also made statements of self-harm.

During a recorded argument that occurred in that specific month, Majors instructed her to behave in a manner similar to Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama. These two women are recognized as the wives of Martin Luther King and ex-President Barack Obama, respectively.

He mentioned that he is making remarkable contributions not only for himself but also for his community and the globe. He further stated that she will have to give up some things to support him.

Majors, who is 34 years old, did not give any testimony. His legal representative argued that the actor was actually the one who suffered from Ms Jabbari's attack. They claimed that she acted out of jealousy after discovering a text message in the car.

Majors, who had a leading role in Creed III, filed a lawsuit against her in June, claiming that she was the one who initiated the attack. However, prosecution authorities did not press charges against her due to insufficient evidence.

According to Reuters, Majors was observed to pucker his lips and shift his gaze downward as the court's decision was announced.

He or his legal representatives have not made any comment following the verdict against him.

In February, there will be a hearing to determine the sentence. Additionally, the judge issued a fresh restraining order instructing him to refrain from having any communication with Ms Jabbari.

According to her attorney, Ms Jabbari felt satisfied that justice was achieved with the ruling and hoped that it would motivate other women who have been mistreated to speak up.

According to a statement given to BBC News by lawyer Ross Kramer, even though it was undoubtedly uncomfortable for Ms Jabbari to recall the difficult events while testifying in court, she did so honestly and openly.

After the verdict, Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney who prosecuted the case, stated that what the actress did - specifically the emotional and psychological harm inflicted - is a frequent occurrence in many cases of intimate partner violence that the office deals with daily.

Ms. Jabbari previously encountered Majors back when she was employed as a movement mentor on the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a couple of years ago.

Marvel delayed the premiere of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, starring Mr. Majors as the top antagonist, following his detention.

Magazine Dreams, a movie that was thought to have a good chance of winning an Oscar, has also been delayed from its debut after the accusations were made.
