Over 20 years since the release of Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002, there are hints that Mike Myers may be considering a fourth installment in the series.

The performer, who is 60 years old, played the role he invented in three films: Austin Powers (1997), Austin Powers in The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002).

Even though the first three movies were very successful at the box office, there hasn't been any progress made on a fourth installment. Despite rumors circulating for years about its development.

During the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony honoring Nicole Kidman, Myers walked on the red carpet on Monday. The reporters from ET asked him about the sequel that has been frequently rumored.

Myers cunningly stated on the red carpet that he can neither verify nor refute the presence or absence of the said project.

It's been over 20 years since the release of Austin Powers in Goldmember back in 2002, but Mike Myers is hinting at a possible fourth installment.

. The actor, who is now in his sixties, portrayed the character he crafted in three different films. These include Austin Powers (in which he posed alongside Elizabeth Hurley) released in 1997, Austin Powers in The Spy Who Shagged Me which premiered in 1999, and finally Austin Powers in Goldmember which was released in 2002.

When questioned whether he believes that there is additional narrative to share about the popular comedic persona, Myers replied, 'Without a doubt.'

The movie named Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery that was released in 1997 had the fortune of earning $59.3 million in domestic sales and $67.7 million in worldwide sales. Surprisingly, the movie only had a budget of $16.5 million.

The follow-up film, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, released in 1999, earned $206 million in the United States and $313.7 million worldwide, despite having only a $33 million budget.

The third installment of Austin Powers, titled "Goldmember" released in 2002, did moderately well in the United States, earning $213.3 million, but failed to perform well on an international level, only gathering $83.6 million. In total, the movie brought in $296.9 million dollars, but was made on a budget of $63 million.

Myers has mentioned the possibility of a fourth installment in the Austin Powers franchise on multiple occasions, including an interview with EW in 2005 where he expressed his optimism for the idea.

"We're all communicating and conversing, so there's optimism! I long to portray the characters once more," expressed Myers during that particular moment.

In 2007, he disclosed that his plan for the fourth film was centered around his villainous character Dr. Evil rather than the protagonist Austin Powers.

"Absolutely, there is a completely developed plan for a fourth installment and I can confirm that it will be from the perspective of Dr. Evil," he stated.

When questioned about the possibility of extending the storyline of the cherished comedic persona, Myers responded affirmatively, saying, 'Without a doubt.'

The movie Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery from 1997 had only moderate success with a earnings of $59.3 million in the United States and $67.7 million globally, despite being produced with a budget of $16.5 million.

The follow-up movie, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, released in 1999, earned a whopping $206 million in the United States and $313.7 million across the globe. What's more impressive is that the film was made with just $33 million in funding.

The movie titled Austin Powers in Goldmember, which is the third installment of the series, did quite well in the United States, with a total gross of $213.3 million. However, it didn't do so well overseas, only grossing $83.6 million. Overall, the movie made $296.9 million, but it had a budget of $63 million.

According to Myers, if we compare the proportions of Austin and Dr. Evil, Dr. Evil has a greater weightage.

In 2008, there were discussions about a film being approved for production. Jay Roach was set to direct, and Gisele Bundchen was approached to play a character in the movie.

Throughout the following fifteen years, Myers and Roach would repeatedly mention their level of interest in creating a fourth film, as seen in various interviews.

There hasn't been any official announcement about the commencement of production for the fourth Austin Powers movie so far.
