Watch Sadiq Khan DJ at youth club ahead of London mayoral election

Sadiq Khan

Sadiq Khan was seen DJing at a youth club in London.

Last Monday, The Telegraph shared a video of the London Mayor performing a short set at Croydon Voluntary Action.

In the video, Khan combines Abba's popular song 'Dancing Queen' with Jack Harlow's hit single 'Lovin' On Me'. He encourages his audience to get on their feet and dance along by shouting, "Come on, let's dance!" They seemed to be having a great time as the clip shows even the Mayor joining along and clapping to Rick Astley's classic tune 'Never Gonna Give You Up'.

The video was posted before the Mayoral election happening today. Khan made a humorous comment to The Telegraph saying, "I am open to performing at bar mitzvahs, weddings, and birthdays."

Emphasizing the significance of community initiatives such as Croydon Voluntary Action, Khan expressed to journalists: "We have witnessed numerous youth clubs shutting down in the past 14 years while many youth workers have lost their employment due to Conservative austerity."

Our goal is to aid youth workers and youth clubs. We attempt to connect them to avoid offering the same services and programs. Our focus is not only on decreasing crime rates, but also on nurturing and enriching the lives of young individuals. We are implementing a variety of initiatives from City Hall to achieve this objective.

According to recent polls, Sadiq Khan is currently ahead of his opponent, Susan Hall, by a significant margin. If he were to win, it would be his third consecutive term as the Mayor of London, making it a historic achievement.

Throughout recent years, Sadiq Khan has put forward various strategies to assist London's nightlife industry, which has been struggling due to the impact of high living expenses, austerity measures, and the global health crisis.

To deal with the issue of high expenses and the devastating effects of the pandemic on London's clubbing environment, Sadiq Khan has proposed multiple schemes over the past few years to help the nightlife industry.

Last year, he promised to contribute £450,000 to help grassroots venues that were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, he unveiled a campaign worth £6 million to assist live music, culture, and hospitality in the city. Just recently, in November, he turned down the proposal for a Las Vegas-style MSG Sphere arena situated in Stratford.
