WFW has announced that Abi Carter, a Senior Associate working on London Assets and Structured Finance, has earned the title of 'Rising Star' for 2024 by Airfinance Journal, a premier aviation publication. The team at WFW is thrilled with this news.

Every year, Airfinance Journal selects 'emerging stars' by requesting readers worldwide to suggest bright young lawyers whose accomplishments have left a significant impact on the airline industry.

Abi is a crucial member of the London Assets & Structured Finance team at WFW, with a focus on financing and leasing aircraft. She has vast knowledge in operating leases, trading aircraft, selling and leasing back transactions, and financing deals across borders. Her clients are mainly airlines and operating lessors who benefit from her extensive expertise in these areas.

Just recently, she was a vital member of the WFW team who was in charge of creating and extending the Global Aviation Resource Index (GARI), a remarkable legal analytics tool available online. It enables users to compare scores and data pertaining to aviation restructuring procedures, aircraft repossession rights, and airplane deregistration rights in more than 100 regions.

Last year, Abi was involved in a team that advised Investec Bank Ltd and a European bank on financing fifteen helicopters, five specialized fixed wing aircraft, and six Airbus H145 helicopters for LEVL Leasing Limited. Additionally, Abi worked on consulting Investec Aviation Finance on their new debt platform's launch, which aimed to target a portfolio of diversified loan assets worth US$500m.

The team leader of Global Aviation Sector, Jim Bell, expressed his happiness upon hearing Abi's recognition as one of Airfinance Journal's upcoming talents. He praised Abi as a hardworking, intelligent, and proficient lawyer, who brings great value to the team and the company as a whole. Jim congratulated Abi for her achievement.
