It is now the right moment for Thiago Silva to bring his football career to an end in Brazil, according to Laurens. (1:25)

In this video, Julien Laurens and Nedum Onuoha share their thoughts on Thiago Silva's upcoming departure from Chelsea at the end of the current season. They discuss the implications of his exit and what it means for the team going forward. The video is 1 minute and 25 seconds long.

James Olley, an experienced journalist working for ESPN FC, published a blog on April 29th, 2024 at 11:13 in the morning.

Thiago Silva has stated that he will depart from Chelsea when the season ends, however, he wants to come back to the club later in a different capacity.

The 39-year-old's agreement was set to terminate in the coming summer, and there have been rumors of him joining either his homeland Brazil's Fluminense, Major League Soccer, or even the Italian football club AC Milan.

In August 2020, Silva became a part of Chelsea's team without any transfer fee involved. Since then, he has played in 151 games and has won notable achievements like the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Silva shared a heartfelt post on the team's social media platform, expressing his attachment to Chelsea. He mentioned that he initially planned to spend a year here, but circumstances led him to stay for four years. This was not only significant for him but also for his loved ones.

It brings me immense joy to say that my sons are a part of Chelsea, and this makes me extremely proud. Being here with them as a part of the Chelsea family is truly an honor. I aspire to see them continue playing for this winning club, which many players dream of being a part of. During my time here as well, I always put forth my best effort. However, nothing lasts forever, and every good thing must come to an end.

This isn't necessarily the definite finish. I want to keep the possibility open so that eventually I might come back, although in a different position. However, my affection for this place is beyond words. All I can express is my gratitude.

Silva took some time to talk about his previous experiences with the team. He first joined the club when Frank Lampard was in charge, but later on, Thomas Tuchel replaced him in January 2021. Afterwards, Graham Potter took over as head coach in September 2022, but he didn't last long. Lampard came back in a temporary role before Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as head coach last summer.

When I first arrived here, it was during the pandemic. This meant that the stadium was empty and there were no fans around. However, social media played a big part in making it feel like something special to me. As life started to get back to normal and fans returned to the stadium, I felt a lot of love and appreciation for my history and how I got started here. Silva conveyed this sentiment.

Parting ways is already an arduous task, but bidding adieu when there is a shared affection makes it even more challenging. Nonetheless, once associated with the Blues, one remains connected with them indefinitely.

I joined the club with help from its members and eventually became a leader, despite feeling like a newcomer at first. Integrating was a challenge, but I slowly became accepted as part of the group. Frank Lampard played a significant role in helping me become part of the team, and I am thankful to him for that.

I could never have foreseen that I would accomplish such amazing feats and secure the prestigious Champions League title with one of the most prominent global clubs, even in my most imaginative fantasies.

Farewells are meant for individuals who depart and never return. I plan to return at some point in time.

Silva is currently struggling with an injury in his groin area. Once the results of his medical scan come back, it will be determined whether he can participate in any of the remaining five games in the Premier League before he leaves the team.
