Doctor Who: Varada Sethu confirmed as new companion

Varada Sethu is going to make an appearance in the Doctor Who series that will air in 2025.

Varada Sethu is going to appear on Doctor Who as Ncuti's Gatwa's partner in the next season of the show.

The entertainer who recently featured in the Star Wars show Andor on Disney+ expressed that it is a privilege to be part of the program.

The debut series of Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor is set to air in May, featuring Millie Gibson, who is known for her role in Coronation Street, as the Doctor's companion named Ruby Sunday.

According to the announcement by the BBC, Sethu is set to join the duo during the upcoming season that is scheduled to be aired in the year 2025.

In addition to Andor, the performer was featured in the criminal thriller Hard Sun in 2018 and the upcoming Jurassic World Dominion film.

According to Sethu, she felt incredibly fortunate to participate in the Whoniverse and believed it to be an honor. She also proclaimed feeling like the most privileged individual in the world.

At the start of this year, people were talking about the possibility of Sethu taking over Gibson's role in the time-traveling TV show.

Gatwa and Gibson's joint appearance was initially witnessed in the show's Christmas Special named "The Church on Ruby Road." In this episode, viewers received information about Sunday's background, discovering that she was adopted and unaware of her biological parents' identity.

Sethu Varada was seen participating in a table read alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson.

Sethu's character remains mysterious as no information has been provided about it. However, the BBC unveiled some snapshots of Sethu sitting with Gatwa and Gibson during a script reading session for an upcoming episode.

Russell T Davies, who is in charge of the show Doctor Who, mentioned that he collaborated with Varada before on a project for the BBC called A Midsummer Night's Dream. He's thrilled to have her join the cast of Doctor Who.

Presently, in the film set, recording for the year 2025, Ncuti, Millie, and Varada are battling together - the presence of all three is indispensable due to increased risks and threats.

On the 11th of May, the program will make its debut on BBC iPlayer at twelve o'clock in the morning, marking the first occasion it will do so. Later in the day, the program will air on BBC One.
