Ammanford

The husband of Liz, John Hopkins, mentioned that it will take a considerable amount of time for his wife to recuperate from her injuries while she is released from the medical facility.

The husband of a teacher who specializes in teaching children with special needs, revealed that his wife sustained "four severe, penetrating stab wounds" during a violent incident at a high school in Wales.

On Wednesday, Liz Hopkins, aged 57, was brought to the hospital following an assault that occurred at Amman Valley School situated in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire.

Another teacher named Fiona Elias and a student were also harmed during the commotion that arose towards the conclusion of the morning recess.

After the assault, Mrs Hopkins was transported by air to the hospital. However, she and the other individuals who were harmed have now left the hospital.

On Thursday, John, who is also employed at the same school, told The Telegraph that his wife would require several weeks to recuperate.

"She's in a serious condition," he stated, "Currently undergoing recovery, however, it will require a significant amount of time."

She has sustained severe injuries from four stabbing wounds, but fortunately, none of them affected any critical areas.

"It will take several weeks for the injuries to completely heal."

According to Mr. Hopkins, he collaborates with her, and the incident was quite scary. He prefers not to discuss it any further. She was transported in a helicopter to the hospital while Mr. Hopkins drove there.

They were concerned about the possibility of a life-threatening situation, but once all the necessary tests were completed on her, that concern dissipated. As for myself, I felt anxious and apprehensive about the situation.

She's extremely disturbed, worried about the children present, along with the other employees and young ones who were present there.

The teacher's brother, who arrived at the accident site first, stated that he doesn't consider himself a hero.

Darrel Campbell, who used to play rugby and is now in charge of Year 11, restrained the individual using an armlock until law enforcement arrived.

Cefin Campbell, who is a representative of the Welsh Parliament for Mid and West Wales, revealed to BBC Radio Wales that his sibling was employed at the same educational establishment as an educator and took action during the occurrence.

Mr. Campbell, who himself was once a pupil at Amman Valley School, shared that the teacher in question has been working at the school for four decades. He added that the said teacher was present at the scene of the recent incident and had to handle a very difficult and overwhelming situation.

It's likely that he reacted in the same way most individuals would have when faced with such a situation - attempting to de-escalate and prevent things from escalating further. However, the experience has clearly had an impact on him, as well as on the rest of the school community, including staff, students, and parents.

According to a female student who was present, there were lots of people running and making distressing noises.

Mr. Campbell showed up at the location and restrained her by putting her in a hold with his arm.

Students sought refuge in restrooms and storage spaces when Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, located in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, implemented a four-hour lockdown.

According to Dyfed-Powys Police, all three individuals who were wounded by a knife have been released from the hospital after receiving medical care.

The head teacher of the school, James Durbridge, expressed on the school's website that it had been a challenging day. He also extended his sympathy towards the three people and their families who have been impacted by the incident.

It fills us with pride to see students embracing the fundamental principles of the school and lending a helping hand to their classmates and faculty members.

"I would like to praise all the faculty and students for their composed and grown-up reaction during the lockdown today."

According to Mr Durbridge's statement, the school is providing "wellbeing support" services to its 1,500 students who may have been affected by the distressing incident they witnessed in the playground.

A young lady who is a teenager is still under arrest and the police will be present at the educational institution all day as the investigation headed by the Criminal Investigation Department advances.
