Introducing the brand-new Ford Nugget camper, unveiled today with a redesigned arrangement and a plethora of fresh elements to ensure your upcoming vacation is as trouble-free as a six-hour journey to Devon can ever be.

Created in collaboration with Westfalia, the Nugget heavily relies on the Tourneo Custom for its interior. This entails a fresh dashboard featuring a 13-inch touchscreen. However, the most significant feature is the flat and lower floor, which greatly enhances maneuverability inside the vehicle and reduces the chaotic scramble while moving around.

The inside of the van has been divided into sections, each serving a specific purpose. There are designated areas for preparing meals, relaxing, and sleeping. When the roof, which is now made of a fabric that folds itself, is raised, there is enough room for two double beds. As one would anticipate from a camper, the front seats can rotate like those of a captain.

According to Ford, the latest version of the Nugget offers improved ergonomics compared to its predecessor. It features a convenient L-shaped kitchen design, increasing the worktop space by 20%, and also introduces a new fridge with a drawer for easier accessibility. Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with standard hot water, eliminating the hassle of cleaning dishes with chilly dishwashing liquid.

In the meantime, a mattress that can be lifted up enhances the space for your head, and the back seat is attached to a rail. A shower fitting at the back is included as a standard feature, although the additional privacy tent (which we would definitely desire) can be added as an option.

Additionally, Ford guarantees convenient storage spots for items such as the patio table and chairs. Practical. Moreover, built-in window shades eliminate the inconvenience of avoiding early morning awakenings caused by the sunrise.

What more is there? An impressive 7-inch touchscreen is provided for you to access and manage different features, including the option to control the mood lighting. The backseat occupants are not left behind either, as they enjoy speakers and USB-C sockets. Just like the front seats, the three-seat bench is also equipped with heating. On top of all that, wireless charging capability and the latest 5G connectivity are included as well.

According to Hans Schep, the general manager of Ford Pro, Europe, Nugget aims to assist owners in exploring different places. With the added convenience, connectivity, and PHEV alternative in the latest model, owners can now venture farther than ever before. Schep added that customers frequently utilize their Nuggets as family vehicles, to transport friends and bicycles to the next trail, or even as an exhilarating retirement plan. Consequently, the newest Nugget has been meticulously designed to cater to all these needs.

The Nugget is currently available for purchase and it comes in the Titanium series variant with a powerful engine that produces 168bhp and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The deliveries of the Nugget are scheduled for spring 2024. However, there are plans to introduce all-wheel drive models in the near future. Additionally, within the next 12 months, customers will have the option to choose a plug-in hybrid version. For this hybrid variant, Ford will be incorporating the Kuga's 2.5-litre engine and an 11.8kWh system.

Energy shouldn't be a concern until that time arrives: the Nugget provides the choice of having a rooftop equipped with solar panels, which, under perfect circumstances, can generate an excess of power compared to the energy consumption from its built-in functionalities.

We were also intrigued by another feature: the latest Nugget now includes an inclinometer, which aids in locating a level surface on even terrain. This certainly surpasses the need for a spirit level. Additionally, the name of this vehicle remains unrivaled in the automotive world.

Let the journey planning begin!
