For the upcoming year of 2023, Ford has completely transformed and improved their Nuggest camper, incorporating a significant and exciting new feature - the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid alternative.

The adaptable camper, created in collaboration with experts in camper conversions, Westfalia, maintains the identical interior with multiple zones like the previous version. This enables the Nugget to be customized according to various kinds of exciting journeys.

The blog section focuses on the latest foundation that the Nugget model is built upon, which is also utilized for the Transit and Tourneo Custom models. This foundation enables the Nugget to provide improved interior materials and enhanced technology. Moreover, the Nugget features a redesigned dashboard and a level floor, making it more convenient to navigate the cabin. Additionally, the lower entrance point accompanied by an integrated side step facilitates easier access.

The technology features of the Nugget are highlighted by a fresh 13-inch touch-sensitive screen and a digital dashboard. In addition, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come as default options.

According to Ford, despite having two double beds arranged, there is still ample space in the Nugget to prepare meals or move around without disturbing the other person in the van. The heated seats for the driver and front passenger can be rotated, and even the rear bench for three people is equipped with heating. Additionally, there is a convenient refrigerator in the form of a drawer, and the sink area provides hot water as a standard feature. Furthermore, the Nugget offers 20 percent more surface area for working compared to the previous model.

A foldable mattress area enhances vertical space when the bed is not being utilized, and this is accompanied by a bench at the back connected to a sliding track. The bench can be effortlessly operated with one hand and transformed into a bed. Additionally, there is a shower outlet located at the rear that provides both hot and cold water, and it can be paired with an optional tent for privacy if desired.

As previously stated, the Nugget will soon come equipped with a plug-in hybrid configuration, which is already utilized in the Kuga PHEV model. This configuration pairs a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with an 11.8kWh battery and an electric motor, thereby enhancing its fuel efficiency and allowing for electric-only driving. While the Kuga PHEV can go up to 41 miles solely on electric power, the Nugget being larger and heavier can be expected to have a slightly lower electric-only range.

According to Ford, the Nugget will first be obtainable with an EcoBlue diesel motor in August 2023 and will be delivered in the subsequent spring. Ford further states that additional variants, such as the PHEV, will be introduced within the subsequent year.
