During the News at Ten program last Friday evening (26 April), Omaar, who holds the position of international affairs editor, seemed to experience challenges when attempting to read the updates from the autocue.

After the programme was broadcasted, ITV News issued a statement addressing the concerns of the audience and gave a status report on the matter.

It has been brought to our attention that viewers have expressed worry about the health of Rageh Omaar, as stated by a representative from ITV News.

Rageh fell ill during his News at Ten broadcast on Friday and is currently under medical supervision. He expresses his gratitude for all the kind messages he has received.

At the moment, there is no information available about the type of illness that Omaar was experiencing during the broadcast.

The hashtag #itvnews became popular on various social media platforms in the United Kingdom, with many viewers expressing their concerns and offering words of encouragement for the news anchor.

ITV withdrew the program that was planned to appear again on ITV+1, and conveyed to the audience that ITV is currently not capable of providing its +1 facility.

"We will be starting again very soon," the message stated.

Several people on X (previously known as Twitter) have criticized others for posting the video or Omaar's report, in which he struggled with reading some words.

One statement says individuals should cease spreading the clips featuring Rageh Omaar and acquire some fundamental manners and courtesy.

In a different comment, a viewer showed their backing for Omaar and praised his exceptional presentation abilities. The viewer was relieved to hear that Omaar is receiving medical treatment, as it was distressing to witness him visibly unwell during his recent appearance on television. They wished him a speedy recovery and called him a wonderful individual.

Since 2013, Omaar has been a part of ITV News, initially joining as a special correspondent and presenter. Two years later, in 2015, he took over as the deputy newscaster of News at Ten.

Before working for ITV, the news anchor who was born in Somalia worked as a global affairs correspondent for BBC and as a news host for Al Jazeera.
