However, in a similar fashion to the original Nugget created by Westfalia, Ford has once again joined forces with this renowned conversion team. The outcome? It appears that the initial Nugget camper came into existence around 1986 when Westfalia worked extensively on a Ford Transit version. Throughout the years, there have been continuous modifications made to the Transit. However, the latest edition of the Nugget utilizes Ford's brand-new framework, which is expected to be employed in both the Transit and Tourneo models this year.
Ford has made significant alterations to the Nugget for its latest edition, with the most notable being the incorporation of a PHEV powertrain alternative. A specially designed Atkinson cycle internal combustion engine is paired with an 11.8 kWh battery and electric motor, resulting in a combined power output of 232 PS (229 HP).
There's only one condition for the PHEV version. Ford plans to launch the Nugget in phases, starting with the Titanium Series, which features a 170 PS (168 HP) EcoBlue engine and an automatic 8-speed gearbox. You can place your order for the Titanium now, and it will arrive in Spring 2024, just in time for next year's off-grid adventures. However, the option for PHEV will only be accessible in the subsequent year.

A significant alteration that will be made is the addition of an autonomous rear suspension to enhance "sophistication and maneuverability." A noteworthy addition present in the kitchen area, which should not be underestimated, is a raised part of the bed above. By elevating a small portion of the upper mattress, prospective owners can avoid any concerns of hitting their heads on something while reaching the kitchen area.
Additionally, within the living space of the Nugget, Ford provides a rear bench that is mounted on tracks. This bench has the added functionality of transforming into a bed, suitable for accommodating families or a small group of companions.
