Ford Teased A New Camper Concept That We’ll Probably Never Get

Ford Motor Company

Ford creates some incredibly enjoyable vans in the United States. Among them are the fully electric e-Transit and the delightful Transit Connect, although it is unfortunate that the latter will no longer be available here. However, Ford's most exceptional van is the Transit Custom, but disappointingly, it is limited to those troublesome Europeans. Now, brace yourself for further envy towards drivers on the other side of the Atlantic, as it appears that Ford is developing a fresh camper model inspired by that van.

For those who may not be familiar, the Transit Custom is positioned in the lineup of European vans by the Blue Oval, between the Transit Connect and the larger Transit models. With dimensions of 80 inches in width and 196 inches in length, it closely matches the size of a 2023 Volvo XC90 SUV.

In the previous year, the Transit Custom received enhancements to offer hybrid power and even the possibility of an all-electric power system for van purchasers in Europe. Presently, Ford is getting ready to introduce a camper variant to the range. How envious do you feel at this moment?

Ford recently used Twitter to give a sneak peek of an upcoming upgrade to its Ford Transit Custom Nugget camper. This camper van, which is built on the previous generation Transit model, boasts a retractable roof and a convenient kitchen area. AutoEvolution, a renowned source for automobile news, revealed that the new version of this van will be publicly unveiled in the coming days.

Check out an awesome video shared by Ted Cannis, the CEO of Ford Pro, on X (previously called Twitter). The clip features a fresh ride with a cool roof that can be raised, set in a picturesque forest teeming with vibrant plants. From the cozy interior, a person leisurely opens the window of a tent, possibly revealing a comfortable bed inside.

Next, the camera shifts its focus towards another individual who is cleansing their hands using a shower nozzle that conveniently functions as a tap. This clever feature could be an invaluable asset for wanderers who prefer not to stay in traditional accommodations for a short duration.

The Ford Transit camper made its initial appearance in 2019, and with the recent enhancements to the foundational van, including the incorporation of plug-in hybrid alternatives and complete electric vehicle specifications, it is only logical for Ford to modernize their camper accordingly.

According to the blog entry by Ted Cannis, the CEO of Ford Pro, the upcoming vehicle he's hinting at will be officially revealed tomorrow (August 24th). Once it's unveiled, there might be a subsequent debut of the recently teased VW California camper, which was previously mentioned earlier this month.
