'Special things happen' - Wrexham ambition grows

Wrexham

Wrexham's Stok Racecourse always draws a capacity crowd, and the venue is currently undergoing redevelopment.

Owner Ryan Reynolds quickly summarized it in a way that talented storytellers do.

"Our journey has never been more thrilling," shared the co-chairman of Wrexham.

No one is disputing this fact, as the commemorative music was played again at the Racecourse on Saturday.

Promotions one after the other, now playing in third tier football. Not too long ago, the club in North Wales was scared of dropping down to the sixth tier and having financial troubles.

Additionally, there are the characteristics and, notably, potential arising from their distinct possession, which hasn't even been mentioned yet.

Wrexham is rapidly progressing and moving forward.

It wasn't only the loud cheers that erupted from the Racecourse, affirming the promotion even before it was officially announced on Saturday.

To make history for the first time in their 159-year existence, Wrexham required not only a victory, but also for their competitors to suffer defeat.

Everything had been in their favor from the start of the game. By halftime, it appeared to be a sure win. Fans in the walkway were in disbelief as they double-checked their score tracking apps and calculations.

"Do you think we won? Are you certain, my friend?" Despite Wrexham scoring six goals and achieving their largest win of the season, which included a remarkable volley from an unexpected scorer, Ryan Barnett, it didn't alleviate the conflicting emotions of feeling both bewildered and ecstatic.

The experience this year wasn't as intense as when they escaped non-league last year after spending 15 years there. During that time, it was as if all the athletes' suppressed emotions were being released, causing them to cry. It was a moment where even those who had lost hope suddenly found themselves believing again.

There were moments when it seemed like a difficult task to advance further. Nevertheless, it was accomplished through hard work and was gratifying.

As soon as the outcomes of MK Dons and Barrow games were officially confirmed, supporters had already made their way onto the field. The warning to be careful had been given a while ago and was now accompanied by trails of red smoke flares that were blown by the wind.

The manager of Wrexham, Phil Parkinson, was able to stay composed despite the presence of documentary cameras and commotion caused by celebrities. However, he did give in to a moment of excitement too soon.

Parkinson noticed the referee's signal that he was about to blow his whistle. As a result, he decided to inquire about the scores from other matches. To his satisfaction, both of them had a three-goal lead. He then shifted his attention from the pitch to his family seated in the stand behind him. With his arms extended and his eyes nearly closed, he seemed to be savoring the moment of achieving his fifth career promotion.

Shortly after, the supporters rushed onto the field, even though the end signals had not been heard elsewhere.

It's understandable if they're in a hurry to savor their recent promotion to the third tier of English football after 21 years. This is because their club has been making great strides towards success.

Soon after the celebration of spraying champagne and sulphur had ended, fans were already discussing the progress of their previously fan-owned club and speculating on its potential for further growth.

Even prior to the match, ex-coaches and athletes like Denis Smith, Dean Saunders, and Barry Horne were discussing their arrival in the Championship.

Perhaps it would be better to postpone such discussions until a later time, after the festivities have ended. However, even the supervisor was reaffirming their previous remarks.

Parkinson expressed that he believed there were many more things to accomplish after receiving a promotion last year and he still strongly holds that belief.

Although it's unlikely that anyone would recommend aiming for three consecutive promotions, as nobody has achieved this feat before. However, Elliott Lee, who scored a goal, mentioned a previous team he played for that managed to make the impressive journey from non-league football all the way up to the Premier League.

Lee stated that while he does not predict an ascension to the Premier League in the near future, he has consistently noted parallels to Luton and anticipates exciting possibilities.

Exciting events are occurring, especially for the team that was in last place in the National League after losing to Ebbsfleet in November 2019. They managed to survive the season and the COVID shutdown by a narrow margin. Shortly thereafter, an intermediary approached them about a separate type of acquisition.

During the latest development, Reynolds and his fellow business partner Rob McElhenney were present at a filming location. McElhenney admitted he couldn't express his feelings through words after discovering the news on social media.

In their regular employment, they were occupied with more tasks lately, causing their absence. However, both of them have a strong attachment to the matter, not only financially but also emotionally, and the yearning for success is only getting higher.

Instead of the usual hosts, executive director Humphrey Ker greeted the day with a simple smile. The lack of drama may have disappointed some viewers of the documentary, but that's not the main focus of the developments happening in Wrexham. This season, the club is expected to reach a turnover of £20 million, which is comparable to most Championship clubs. What's more impressive is that a third of their revenue is coming from countries outside of Europe, highlighting their growing reputation in the United States.

First and foremost, we have once again demonstrated that this is not a ploy, it is not a humorous gesture, it is a legitimate endeavor," he expressed. Additionally, he mentioned that the team must now manage their aspirations in a league that includes clubs with a greater history and financial power than even the most high-profile celebrities in Hollywood can achieve.

"We are currently working on improving our infrastructure and facilities, but we are committed to providing our players and staff with the high-quality standards they deserve. Once we have completed these upgrades, we will continue to move forward with even more improvements."

The destination of its path continues to intrigue.

Equally significant on the day of the festivities was the location that Wrexham had previously occupied.

Wrexham recently posted a photo on one of their social media accounts. The picture featured players and the club's secretary, Geraint Parry, who has been with the team for so long that nobody really knows when he started. Instead of featuring Ryan and Rob, the photo showed the players happily posing with Geraint Parry.

He and other people have witnessed past marketing campaigns and the club being in the third division or even higher in the past.

He and 12,000 others, as well as many more globally, dream of what's next and this is what excites them. It brings back pride after the difficult experience of dropping to such a low point.

That's why they'll keep having fun during the ride of their lives for however long it goes on.
