"Wrexham's Mullin Scores 100th Goal In 2-1 Comeback Victory Over Colchester United"

Updated as of April 6th, 2024. This pertains to the League Two category.

Wrexham's strive for promotion received a significant boost as they clinched the second spot in League Two, courtesy of Paul Mullin's 100th goal for the team.

In the first half of the game, where the sun was shining brightly, no goals were scored. However, things changed in the second half when John Akinde managed to put Colchester in the lead with a impressive half-volley towards the far end of the field.

However, Mullin quickly evened the score by making a header from a cross by Ryan Barnett that was delivered from a short distance away.

Colchester needed to earn a point in order to avoid being relegated, as they had the same number of goals as the teams currently in the relegation spots. However, Max Cleworth's winning goal at the end of the match completely crushed Colchester's chances of achieving this goal.

Wrexham currently have a lead of three points over Mansfield Town, who are now in fourth place after suffering a 4-1 defeat at home to Crawley Town. This has caused Mansfield Town to drop out of the places for automatic promotion.

According to Phil Parkinson, the manager of Wrexham, stated that...

I think the boys reacted positively when they were scored on first. It's challenging to play at this location.

Today's game was all about showing our character. Though we fell behind with one goal, we bounced back with an outstanding performance. It's worth noting that Colchester is a team that plays better than their current standing in the league suggests."
