The planning application for Oxford United's new stadium has currently had around 2,900 online comments removed as a temporary measure.

In February, the League One team presented their blueprint for a stadium that can accommodate up to 16,000 people in Kidlington to Cherwell District Council.

The governing body will censor the names and addresses of the individuals answering the application due to its "delicate and confidential" content.

The team announced that they have to vacate the Kassam Stadium no later than the summer of 2026.

Last month, the Oxfordshire County Council made an announcement stating that they had agreed on the basic terms for the use of a large 5-hectare (12.3 acre) area of land known as the Triangle.

However, the Kidlington Parish Council is planning to raise an objection against the stadium after their meeting on April 25.

The Triangle stadium is designed to accommodate up to 16,000 people, with certain sections allowing for secure standing.

Cambridge United secured their spot in the fight for promotion to the Championship for the next season by defeating Peterborough United in the League One play-offs on Wednesday. They will now face Bolton Wanderers on 18 May in a crucial battle for this coveted place.

Roughly 700 entries have been sent to Cherwell Council, with a large portion originating from Kidlington and several hundred more from the city of Oxford.

The authority's planning committee will consider all opinions until they make a decision, which is expected to be on 21 June.

Additional entries were received from the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

A representative from Cherwell District Council mentioned that they are implementing extra measures to safeguard the confidentiality of individuals who give their opinions on the application, as it is considered to be a delicate issue.

Thus, for the time being, we will eradicate the public remarks on this application from the site so as to conceal the identities and locations of the individuals who responded. This process will require a significant amount of time since there was a vast quantity of comments received.

"We will consider all previous feedback received and it will be visible on the application website after editing. If you give us any new feedback, it will also be visible on the website after editing."

The land set aside for the new stadium is under the ownership of Oxfordshire County Council.

The organization suggesting that a portion of Oxford Road, which connects Kidlington and North Oxford, should be shut down temporarily before and after games to ensure the fans' safety while commuting to and from the stadium.

Earlier, the transport management cabinet member of the county council expressed his disagreement with the proposed plan to the district council, calling it unsatisfactory.

Andrew Gant expressed concern about the possible consequences that the residents of Wolvercote and Summertown might face if the route to Kidlington is affected and suggested that rather than going with the shut down, the decision should be reconsidered.

Based on the present proposals, a portion of Oxford Road may possibly be shut down temporarily prior to and following the Oxford United soccer matches.
