Bryson DeChambeau began strong in the first round of The Masters, leading the scoreboard on the first day at Augusta National. Despite the harsh wind conditions, the skilled golfer hit an amazing 65 on the course where he hasn't performed notably in previous tournaments.

Scottie Scheffler is currently at the top of the pack, showing his skill once again with a polished 66 to end the round six-under. The PGA Tour's most impressive player and winner of the prestigious green jacket in 2022 was expected to perform well at Augusta, with hopes of adding a second Masters title to his list of accolades. He played with his usual calm and self-assured manner to produce an outstanding round.

The commencement of the game was postponed for two and a half hours as a result of morning thunderstorms. Although the rain subsided, the strong winds continued to pose a challenge throughout the day. However, the soft terrain permitted players who exhibited control to earn points relatively effortlessly. Many proficient golf players were at the forefront. Rory McIlroy concluded with a score of 71 after recovering from a sluggish start. Defending champion, Jon Rahm, finished with a score of one-over following bogeys in the last two holes. The most notable highlight of the day was Danny Willett's performance. After undergoing shoulder surgery only six months ago, Willett, the 2016 Masters champion, played his debut tournament with a remarkable 68, insinuating that another enjoyable weekend lies ahead at the well-groomed Georgia course.

Tiger Woods had a good beginning on Thursday, aiming for another victory in the Masters to achieve a total of 16 major titles. Still, he struggles with pain on most of his shots at Augusta. Nick Faldo: Rory McIlroy Has 10+ Years To Win Masters

According to Sir Nick Faldo, Rory McIlroy still has a chance to win the Masters for the next ten years, despite his past unsuccessful attempts.

In 2011, McIlroy lost a significant lead of four shots during the last round. After winning the 2014 Open, he has achieved six top 10 positions at Augusta National. To complete a career grand slam, he requires a green jacket.

The player ranking in the second spot worldwide came in second place in the 2022 competition, falling short of Scottie Scheffler. This outcome was achieved with an exhilarating final round of 64. Currently, they are pegged as the runner-up favourite behind the same contender this week. Recently, the player managed to secure the third spot in the Texas Open on Sunday.

Sergio Garcia: Masters Round One Felt Like Boxing Tyson

Ex-champion Sergio Garcia mentioned he felt as though he had just finished a boxing match with Mike Tyson after battling against strong winds during the first round of the 88th Masters.

Garcia had a score of three over par with only six holes left to play when he made a double bogey on the twelfth hole, but he managed to make a birdie on the thirteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth holes, which helped him to end up with a score of level-par 72.

Garcia, the winner of the Augusta National play-off against Justin Rose in 2017, commented that the challenging wind conditions posed a difficulty during the game, particularly with the gusts. He noted the importance of precision in all aspects of the game, especially when shooting into the greens. This precision demanded extra care not only during tee-offs, but also while taking shots towards the greens.

When the wind is unpredictable in its strength and direction, hitting a good shot becomes a real challenge. As I experienced today, there were situations where I thought I had struck the ball well, but the gusts made the outcome uncertain. For instance, on hole 12, Ryan Fox managed to hit a pitching wedge and land it right in the middle of the green, about 15 feet from the hole.

I used a nine iron club and my shot was 15 yards less than his. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind hit me and I ended up with a double bogey. It was quite difficult and I felt exhausted, almost like I had just fought Mike Tyson for 12 rounds. I can't wait to get back home and take some rest.

Langer's Masters Farewell Postponed To 2025

Renowned golfer Bernhard Langer recently announced that he will most likely participate in the Masters tournament for one last time in 2025. This decision came after Langer's initial plan to retire from the tournament this year was disrupted by a painful Achilles tear in February. As a two-time Masters champion, this was a difficult setback for Langer, but he remains hopeful of returning to the tournament before retiring for good.

The German, who is 66 years old, sustained an injury while playing pickleball. As a result, he has had to miss a considerable amount of time, causing him to rethink how he will bid farewell to Augusta National.

Langer was asked by Reuters if he would participate in the Masters in 2025, to which he replied that it is probable, but he has not made any official statement yet. He expressed his desire to participate, but it is subject to the progress of his recovery.
