The inaugural men's golf major event of the year is finally here and top players from across the globe are set to gather at Augusta National for The Masters. However, there is a chance that the opening day could see some delays due to the occurrence of storms.

A year has passed since Jon Rahm won the prestigious green jacket for the first time. He won the tournament in honor of his hero Seve Ballesteros. Now, Rahm is returning to defend his title. However, his switch to the LIV Golf series has added an extra element of interest to this year's tournament.

The PGA Tour and the Saudi Arabian supporters of LIV are still in talks about potentially working together. However, at the moment, all attention is focused on the golf course where Jon Rahm and other nonconformists like the consistently threatening Brooks Koepka are set to compete against those who have stayed with the Tour. These individuals include the 2022 champ and this season's most impressive player Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy who is trying to achieve a career grand slam, and Jordan Spieth who is especially skilled for Augusta.

Renowned golfer Tiger Woods has planned to participate in a tournament and has revealed that he aims to obtain “another green jacket” to increase his number of major championship titles to 16. Despite experiencing discomfort during a large portion of his swings at Augusta, he remains determined to achieve his goal.

2024 Masters: Winner Predictions, Betting Tips, And Golf Odds

This week, the divided sport of golf has agreed to set aside their differences as the top players from around the globe join forces for the inaugural major tournament of the year.

Jon Rahm is back and is the most famous out of the 13 LIV golfers who will be participating at Augusta National. He is looking to accomplish something that hasn't been done since Tiger Woods in 2002 - win the Masters title two years in a row.

Rahm hasn't won a championship since beating Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson by four strokes last year. He's got fairly long odds of around 12/1 to secure his third major, with Scottie Scheffler being the current favourite and Rory McIlroy close behind at 10/1. It's worth noting that McIlroy could make history by becoming the sixth player to accomplish a career grand slam if he takes the win.

Before the start of Thursday's golf tournament, we have carefully examined various betting websites for golf and chosen three recommendations from the category of overall winners in the Masters.

McIlroy Responds To Woods' Support For Masters Grand Slam Win

Tiger Woods restated his conviction that Rory McIlroy will surely snatch a victory at the Masters tournament at some point, achieving the grand slam, while McIlroy refrained from engaging much with the media.

Around half an hour before his scheduled press conference, McIlroy arrived at Augusta National as the final player to register. The conference actually started earlier than expected, and consisted of only seven questions being directed toward the second-best player in the world.

Woods previously mentioned that McIlroy would eventually earn a green jacket and complete the set of major titles won by the likes of Sarazen, Hogan, Player, Nicklaus, and himself. Another comment was made that was directed towards this statement.

McIlroy expressed his appreciation, stating that he found it flattering. He added that it was pleasant to hear such words from what he considers the greatest player in the sport's history.

Is it a done deal? Of course not. However, he's experienced enough in the sport to acknowledge my capability. I'm aware of my own potential as well. I've been performing consistently well for the last 20 years, after all. Nonetheless, it's always pleasant to hear his affirmation firsthand.

Why Jon Rahm's LIV Golf Switch Won't Affect His Masters Defence

Jon Rahm has stated that his move to LIV Golf has not softened his competitive drive. He is determined to achieve a rare feat of winning consecutive Masters titles, joining the likes of only three other players who have accomplished this.

Rahm made a surprising decision to switch to the newly formed competition supported by Saudi Arabia. This decision came after he had previously announced his commitment to the PGA Tour and expressed disapproval of LIV's format, which included 54 holes with no cut and a shotgun start, describing it as “not a golf tournament”.

Although he hasn't won any of the five LIV events he's participated in, the athlete who has won two major tournaments recently visited Augusta after securing fourth place in Miami and also triumphing in the Doral team competition.

Rahm expressed his enjoyment in participating in those events and acknowledged the continued presence of competition. Despite the smaller number of competitors, the level of play remains high and one must still surpass some of the top players in the world to emerge victorious, requiring the same level of skill as that demanded in the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods Aims For Record Cut At The Masters And One More Green Jacket

Tiger Woods claims that he has the capability of winning his sixth green jacket and 16th major title. However, he revealed that he experiences discomfort while taking the majority of his shots at Augusta National.

Woods hasn't been able to play many rounds since his ankle surgery in April of last year. He had to drop out of the Masters during the third round. Recently, he played in the Hero World Challenge and was able to complete all 72 holes. But then in February, while playing in the Genesis Invitational, he got sick and had to withdraw after only playing six holes of the second round.

During round one, Woods experienced a back spasm and unfortunately hit a dreaded shank on the 18th hole. However, when asked about his expectations for the week, he remained confident in his usual response. "If everything aligns perfectly, I believe I can achieve one more," Woods stated with a grin. He then asked if further explanation was necessary or if his answer sufficed.

However, the inquiry and response arose shortly after Woods had openly discussed the challenges that his numerous injuries, such as his near loss of his right leg in a car collision in 2021, present him with when he's not on a completely level ground.

Why Does TV Delay Masters Coverage?

Those who love watching golf and were looking forward to The Masters will once again have to exercise patience before they can get complete TV coverage, since the organizers have opted to stick with their conventional broadcasting approach.

The first major golf tournament for men every year is hosted at Augusta, Georgia, since 1934. Nearly 90 proficient golfers from different parts of the world compete aggressively to wear the popular green jacket.

The United Kingdom's exclusive live broadcast partner for the event is Sky Sports. Although the first golfers will start their rounds at approximately 1pm BST for the first two rounds, viewers will only be able to watch all groups live at 7.30pm.
