This past Thursday (April 11th), the last five competitors went through a tough interview process with Lord Sugar's highly skilled team, which included his former assistant Claude Littner. Each candidate had their personal business plans scrutinized under a magnifying glass.

The recent installment of BBC concluded with three candidates being let go from the show. Before that happened, Sugar proposed a business deal to Dr Paul Midha, who is the proud owner of a lucrative dental clinic, which would have secured his position in the competition's final leg.

However, unexpectedly, the cosmetic dentist declined Sugar's proposal and was promptly dismissed "with honor" by the entrepreneur, resulting in Phil Turner and Rachel Woolford being announced as the contenders for this year's championship.

During the boardroom meeting, Midha revealed to Sugar that his proposed scrubs business was predicted to be a failure. However, he impressed everyone with his willingness to make changes to his business plan, making him a top contender for winning the competition.

Sugar was evidently intrigued by the proposed business plan and, following the termination of Tre Lowe and Florence Edwards, he directly asked Midha whether he would be willing to form a 50-50 partnership worth £250,000.

Yet, Midha expressed to Sugar that he planned on utilizing the £250,000 investment to establish a new dental practice instead of dividing the profits of his existing one. Despite Midha's explanation, Sugar remained unconvinced and subsequently terminated Midha's employment.

“Paul, I hope you’re doing alright however, regrettably, since you refuse to disclose all aspects of the business to me, I must inform you, with utmost courtesy, that you’re being dismissed,” stated Sugar.

Midha clarified to RadioTimes.com his choice to decline Sugar's proposed deal came from his desire to not "let down" his family.

He said that ultimately, it's a procedure, but he also considers it as his personal life. He had to make a decision that was reasonable on a business and commercial level, as well as on a personal level.

"If I had accepted the offer and returned home, my family, who have witnessed the challenges and efforts I have made to reach this point, would have been unhappy and disheartened since my acceptance would have diminished my worth."

In the boardroom, Midha disclosed that there was another choice that wasn't broadcasted. Sugar recommended establishing a new dental clinic with three operation rooms. However, he desired the whole package.

Midha stated that despite her strong desire, she was unable to accomplish the task. She expressed her hope that the people of the United Kingdom wouldn't be let down by her decision and would understand the reasons behind it. Additionally, she conveyed gratitude for the immense support she has received thus far.

The concluding episode of The Apprentice will be broadcasted on Thursday (18 April) on BBC One.
