Today, the Olivier Awards winners with Mastercard have been disclosed at a grandiose ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London, masterfully hosted by Hannah Waddingham. This amazing event will be condensed into a highlights package that will be displayed on ITV1 at 10:10 pm today. Sunset Boulevard was the grand champion of the evening, having racked up seven impressive awards. This included the Best Actor and Actress in a Musical prizes which were snagged by Tom Francis and Nicole Scherzinger, respectively. Jamie Lloyd also took home the prestigious Sir Peter Hall Award for Best Director, while the production itself was recognized as the Best Musical Revival. Jack Knowles was rightfully awarded the shining White Light Award for his exceptional Lighting Design. Alan Williams also received due recognition for his Outstanding Musical Contribution, particularly in the areas of musical supervision and direction. Finally, Adam Fisher proved his skill in sound design and was granted the d&b audiotechnik Award for Best Sound Design.

Hannah Waddingham, the host of the event, kicked off the ceremony with an incredible rendition of ‘Anything Goes’ from the musical with the same name. She was joined on stage by the talented musician Joe Stilgoe and the London Community Gospel Choir. There were numerous other fantastic performances throughout the evening which included nominees for Mastercard Best New Musical category like The Little Big Things, Next To Normal, Operation Mincemeat, and A Strange Loop. The event also featured nominees for Best Musical Revival such as Guys & Dolls and Hadestown, as well as the winner, Sunset Boulevard. Furthermore, an extraordinary moment from Groundhog Day Australia was also presented during the ceremony.

Operation Mincemeat, a musical with music, lyrics, and book by a quartet of talented creators, David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson, and Zoë Roberts, bagged the prestigious Mastercard Best New Musical award held at the Fortune Theatre. The category was characterized by intense competition this year, serving as an affirmation of the continuously developing and thriving musical theatre culture of London. Jak Malone, who played Hester in the musical, also received the Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical award.

Mark Gatiss won the highly sought-after Olivier Awards for Best Actor, thanks to his portrayal in The Motive and The Cue. Meanwhile, Sarah Snook snagged the Best Actress trophy for her remarkable West End debut performance in The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Amy Trigg was conferred with the esteemed accolade of Best Actress in a Supporting Role In a Musical for brilliantly portraying the character of Agnes in The Little Big Things at @sohoplace. Another noteworthy award, the Cunard Best Revival title, was rightfully earned by the Duke Of York's Theatre for the outstanding performance of Simon Stephens' adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Vanya.

The Gillian Lynne Award for Best Theatre Choreographer was awarded to Arlene Phillips and James Cousins at the Bridge Theatre. Arlene Phillips won the Special Award last year and returned to accept the prize. They won the award for their work on Guys & Dolls.

Kate Trefry's theatrical production, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which was showcased at the Phoenix Theatre, has bagged two prestigious awards. The Noël Coward Award for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play and the Blue-i Theatre Technology Award for Best Set Design were awarded to Miriam Buether for her remarkable set designing skills, and 59 Productions for their exceptional video designing skills.

Matilda Feyiṣayọ's Sleepova at the Bush Theatre clinched the Unusual Rigging Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre, while the Royal Opera's Innocence nabbed the TAIT Award for Best New Opera Production at the Royal Opera House. Isabela Coracy emerged victorious in the Outstanding Achievement in Dance category for her impressive performance in NINA: By Whatever Means, a part of Cassa Pancho's Ballet Black: Pioneers show at the Barbican Theatre. La Ruta by Gabriela Carrizo, which was performed as part of Nederlands Dans Theater – NDT 1 at Sadler's Wells, took home the award for Best New Dance Production. Antonio Pappano, who was in his final year as the Music Director of the Royal Opera House, was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Opera award.

Derek Bond's Dinosaur World Live at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre was the recipient of the coveted Best Family Show award.

During this year's In Memoriam portion, we remembered the great figures we lost in both the entertainment industry and beyond. Among them was Haydn Gwynne, who posthumously received the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in When Winston Went to War with The Wireless. Her children accepted the award on her behalf and spoke lovingly about Gwynne as both an accomplished artist and a dearly beloved mother. They described her as a force to be reckoned with, revered by many.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the National Theatre ended the awards ceremony with a special performance. The play was Dear England by James Graham and directed by Elin Schofield, featuring an amazing cast led by Joseph Fiennes who played Gareth Southgate, which won The Londoner Award for Best New Play. Ensemble cast included Janie Dee, Adrian Lester, Meera Syal, Callum Scott Howells and Fra Fee alongside an amazing choir of 30 National Theatre ex-performers. The performance highlighted the National Theatre's incredible contribution to the arts. It included a video documenting the creation and progress of the NT's South Bank home, which was narrated by Dame Helen Mirren. The play's finale was a powerful rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from the musical Carousel.
