IPL-17: CSK vs SRH | Ruturaj, Mitchell and Deshpande sizzle as CSK trounces SRH

CSK vs SRH

Although Ruturaj Gaikwad didn't score a second consecutive century as he might have deserved, he still managed to entertain the packed audience by playing a brilliant innings of 98 runs (off 54 balls, including 10 boundaries and 3 sixes). This helped his team, Chennai Super Kings, to secure a convincing victory of 78 runs over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.

The person in charge of the team had good backup from Daryl Mitchell (52 runs off 32 balls with seven fours and one six). They joined forces and created a 107-run partnership for the second wicket. Afterwards, Shivam Dube (39 not out off 20 balls with one four and four sixes) helped finish off the innings with a bang, resulting in the Super Kings scoring 212 for three.

Sunrisers' attempt to chase the target did not start well due to Tushar Deshpande's excellent bowling performance. He managed to take three wickets for 23 runs in the initial PowerPlay overs. Although Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma hit two sixes in his first three balls, Deshpande made an impressive comeback and took out Head and Anmolpreet Singh back-to-back. To add to this, Deshpande continued his success by catching Abhishek Sharma out at deep-point in the following over, which unsettled the Sunrisers' team.

In the middle of the game, Ravindra Jadeja was able to prevent the opposition from scoring many runs with an impressive performance, only conceding one run for 22 deliveries. At the 11th over, Matheesha Pathirana delivered a powerful yorker that knocked down Aiden Markram's middle-stump and caused SRH to lose momentum. They struggled to regain their footing and were ultimately bowled out for a score of 134, unable to make a comeback.

At the start of the game, Ruturaj's marvelous innings led CSK towards a dominant score despite being asked to bat first on a sluggish pitch.

Ruturaj showed his batting skills by hitting left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed inside-out, and also hitting Bhuvneshwar Kumar behind point, followed by a well-executed cover drive towards the boundary. He managed to aim the ball towards the off-side fence with ease.

On the flip side, Mitchell gradually regained his sense of direction and stuck to his strong suit of hitting the ball down the field, which proved to be effective. His most impressive shot was a high hit that resulted in a six off of Cummins, soaring over long-off, earning him his first ever half-century.

As Ruturaj approached his hundred, he started to feel tired. However, Dube picked up the momentum from his captain and hit a few powerful sixes off T. Natarajan. Together, they managed to add 74 runs for the third wicket and helped CSK to surpass 200. This total turned out to be more than sufficient for their victory.

Shahbaz got Ajinkya Rahane caught out for 9 runs off 12 balls with one boundary. Natarajan caught Ruturaj Gaikwad out for 98 runs off 54 balls with ten boundaries and three sixes. Nitish caught Daryl Mitchell out for 52 runs off 32 balls with seven boundaries and one six. Shivam Dube remained not out with 39 runs off 20 balls, including one boundary and four sixes. M.S.
