The attorney of Harvey Weinstein stated on Saturday that the former film executive has been admitted to a hospital in New York City for several examinations. This occurred after an appeals court decided to overturn his rape conviction from 2020.

Lawyer Arthur Aidala stated that Weinstein was transferred to Bellevue Hospital located in Manhattan following his arrival at the city jails on Friday.

They checked him out and transferred him to Bellevue. It looks like he requires significant physical assistance. He has many issues and is undergoing various examinations. His health is in shambles, according to Aidala.

The hospital didn't get back to us on Saturday after we left them a message.

Frank Dwyer, an individual who speaks on behalf of the Department of Correction in New York City, simply stated that Weinstein is still being held in custody at Bellevue. Thomas Mailey, another individual who speaks on behalf of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the state, claimed that Weinstein was handed over to the city's Department of Correction according to the appeals ruling. Weinstein was previously staying at the Mohawk Correctional Facility, which is situated approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Albany.

The conviction of an individual was overturned on Thursday by the New York Court of Appeals due to the reason that the jurors were presented with evidence that was not relevant to the charges. As a result, the individual's 23-year prison sentence was dismissed, and they will face another trial.

The prosecution plans to have another trial against him for the offenses of performing oral sex on a production assistant from TV and film in 2006 and raping an actor who wanted to pursue his career in 2013.

Weinstein stayed in detention due to the appeals decision as he got found guilty of another rape in Los Angeles in 2022 and was given a 16-year prison term.

Weinstein has been suffering from several health problems for a while, such as heart disease, diabetes, difficulty breathing during sleep, and eye conditions.

Aidala mentioned that he had a conversation with Weinstein on Friday afternoon. This happened when Weinstein was on his way to New York City from a jail located upstate. This occurred within a day after the appeals ruling was made public on Thursday morning.

According to him, his client is suffering from physical health issues, but he remarked that mentally, his client is "alert and intelligent. He has a strong grasp of reality."

According to the attorney, it typically takes around one to two weeks for the state correction and prison authorities to coordinate and manage the transportation of a convict.

Aidala stated that he was not given proper care. They declined to offer him a single drop of water, any food, or an opportunity to use the bathroom facilities. He's an old and unhealthy man who is 72 years of age.

Mailey, a representative for the state corrections department, did not provide any comment when Aidala's statements regarding how Weinstein was being treated were conveyed to him through a phone call.

Aidala shared that he was informed about the intention of Bellevue doctors to conduct numerous examinations on Weinstein before he could be sent back to the Rikers Island jail complex.

According to the attorney, he has an appointment with Weinstein on the first day of the week. He supplemented that he intends to advise the judge during Weinstein's court appearance on Wednesday in New York City that another trial should happen later than the Labor Day holiday.
