In light of recent developments in the industry, the Company wishes to share an update on the technology it will be using to extract lithium at its Hombre Muerto North Lithium Project, situated in Salta Province, Argentina.

As it has been mentioned before, the business is working on the HMN Li Project utilizing traditional and well-established extraction technology through evaporation. At present, there are test ponds located in the Tramo Claim Block, which are monitored constantly for 24 hours after being filled. The aim of this is to confirm that evaporation is the most effective way to extract lithium for this type of application.

The HMN Li Lithium Project has brine of exceptional quality, as it has very few impurities and an excellent grade. After a successful drill program at the Alba Sabrina and Natalia Maria Claim blocks, the lithium grades found are remarkable, reaching up to 1176 milligrams per liter lithium. What's more impressive is that magnesium, which is typically a significant contaminant in lithium brine projects, has been found at a very low ratio of only 2.66 to 1.

The testing process for making lithium carbonate of high quality for industrial and battery use from HMN Li brine is almost done. We should get the results soon. The company is determined to keep pushing the HMN Li Project using the most appropriate methods of extracting lithium, taking into account the level of risk and reward.

Lithium South (LIS) is the sole owner of the Hombre Muerto North Lithium Project (HMN Li Project) situated in the province of Salta, Argentina, at the center of the lithium triangle. The Hombre Muerto Salar has a long history of lithium production, with Livent Corporation operating for over twenty-five years south of the HMN Li Project. A US$4 billion lithium development project by POSCO (Korea) and the Sal de Vida Project by Allkem surround the HMN Li Project. LIS has identified a Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE) resource according to NI 43-101 standards on the Tramo block, one of five detached blocks constituting the HMN Li Project. Additional lithium zones have been discovered through recent drilling on the Alba Sabrina and Natalia Maria blocks, which could lead to defining a new and potentially larger LCE resource. LIS is now adapting from being an explorer to becoming a developer of lithium.

The Lithium South Development Corporation recently announced its intention to complete a preliminary economic assessment of its flagship Hombre Muerto North lithium project in Argentina. The company said that the assessment will evaluate the lithium deposit’s potential for production of battery-grade lithium carbonate and potentially a range of other lithium products, including lithium hydroxide, high-purity lithium carbonate and lithium chloride. This will allow Lithium South to establish a more comprehensive understanding of the deposit’s characteristics, economics and potential for development. The exploration of Hombre Muerto North is part of a larger trend in the mining industry, which has focused on expanding lithium production in order to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles and other high-tech applications.
