Shamima Begum attempted to appeal the decision to strip her of her British citizenship in the highest court of the United Kingdom. However, she was not successful in her initial attempt.

In the previous year, Ms Begum's initial attempt to challenge the ruling to take away her citizenship due to national security concerns was dismissed by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC). This issue arose when she was discovered in a Syrian refugee camp subsequent to her trip to the country when she was just 15 years old in 2015.

At the beginning of this year, three judges at the Court of Appeal all agreed to deny her request for the SIAC ruling to be reversed.

Shamima Begum's effort to win her British citizenship back has failed. Her appeal was rejected by the authorities.

Earlier this week, a representative from the court system revealed that Ms. Begum had requested permission from the Court of Appeal to appeal her case to the highest court in the land, but her request was denied.

Ms Begum has the option to directly request the Supreme Court for authorization to have her situation considered by the most prestigious court in the United Kingdom.

The Court of Appeal challenge made by Ms Begum was dismissed by Baroness Carr, the lady chief justice, in February. She commented that one could make an argument that the decision made in Ms Begum’s case was harsh.

One could make the claim that Ms. Begum is responsible for her own troubles, but it's not up to the court to take a stance on either argument.

The court's sole responsibility was to determine if the decision to take away something was against the law.

"As it was not, the appeal made by Ms Begum has been rejected."

After this choice, Daniel Furner, the solicitor of Ms Begum, expressed regret and apologized to her and her family that even after a long battle, justice still hasn't prevailed in a UK court. However, he assured both the government and Ms Begum that they will continue fighting relentlessly until justice prevails, and Ms Begum can return home safely.
