The atmosphere was intense at Goodison Park. Gueye, who is 29 years old, helped ease the tension by scoring a powerful shot from 30 yards away that went straight into the bottom corner of the goal, leaving Matz Sels with no chance of making a save. McNeil also showed his skill by scoring a great goal from a distance when there were only 14 minutes left in the game. His shot was low and precise, almost like a daisy cutter.

During the match, referee Anthony Taylor made some controversial decisions, including ignoring three penalty claims made by Nottingham Forest. All three incidents involved Ashley Young, who was involved in a challenge on Giovanni Reyna, a possible handball, and a tackle from behind on Callum Hudson-Odoi. Despite being checked by VAR, the on-field decisions remained the same, causing Nottingham Forest to express their frustration and disbelief at the outcome.

They issued a statement via X, stating that they cannot accept three very bad decisions, including three ungiven penalties.

We informed the PGMOL ahead of the match that the VAR supports Luton, however, they chose not to replace him. This has caused us to feel frustrated repeatedly. The NFFC will now assess all possible course of actions.

The match didn't end well for Everton as there was a terrible collision between Morgan Gibbs-White and Beto. This caused the Everton forward to need 10 minutes of medical attention and be carried off on a stretcher. Fortunately, he gave a thumbs-up to the Goodison Park crowd as he left the field, even though he needed oxygen. After being taken to the hospital for scans, it was confirmed that he didn't have any injuries.

Everton's victory has put them five points ahead of the relegation area and with an extra match to play against their competitors. Meanwhile, Forest's spot is still shaky as they are currently only one point above Luton in 17th place.

Everton's Rise Above Uncertainty

In the game, Neco Williams attempted a shot in the beginning, but it was saved by Jordan Pickford. Forest had hopes of turning the tables and getting the home fans on their side, especially after their recent 6-0 loss to Chelsea.

That was the best it got at the beginning, but both teams played very cautious football, avoiding taking risks.

Out of the blue came the goal, completely unexpected.

Gueye had command over Ola Aina's weak header and observed an opening in the far post that was just outside the field. He swiftly took advantage of the gap by directing the ball low down between Sels' right hand and the far post.

Pickford saved the day just before halftime with an amazing save from Chris Wood's shot, which was very close to scoring. VAR reviewed the situation and decided that Young's arm was in a normal position when Hudson-Odoi hit the ball. Forest's team was unhappy about this and also felt that Reyna was fouled by Young, but the officials did not agree and the game continued.

In the second half, Young challenged the officials' decision by colliding with Hudson-Odoi, who appeared to have an advantage over the defender. Taylor indicated that he believed Young managed to get the ball, but the replay showed otherwise.

Gibbs-White directed a shot over the top of the goal post despite having only Pickford to outdo, but the absence turned out to be expensive as McNeil secured the victory for the home team.

The goal was absolutely amazing as the person shot the ball from 30 yards away, and it went past the goalkeeper's outstretched arm and hit the post before going in. People at Goodison Park were visibly relieved when they saw the ball go in.

Substitute player Beto had to be carried off on a stretcher due to a head injury, taking the place of Calvert-Lewin. However, despite the 17 minutes of extra time given, the Forest team displayed no aggression on the field and remained passive throughout the game.

The football match between Everton and Liverpool will take place at Goodison Park on Wednesday April 24th, with the game starting at 8pm. These teams are local rivals.
