Luton Town vs Brentford

Brentford's Wissa Nets Double In 5-1 Victory

"Wissa's Brace Puts Brentford Ahead At Halftime"

Thomas Frank decided to alter his starting team from the one that played against Sheffield United in the previous week. He made a total of three modifications.

After recuperating from a small calf injury, Kristoffer Ajer was picked to play as a right-back instead of Mads Roerslev. In addition, Pinnock, who plays center-back, started the game, marking his first time on the field since February. This caused Zanka to be benched for the match.

Lewis-Potter was selected to play on the left side of a front three with Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo after Neal Maupay was substituted.

Ivan Toney, the forward, was unable to participate in the matchday roster owing to an injury.

At the start of the game, Brentford had the opportunity to score within three minutes. Mbeumo passed the ball to Vitaly Janelt on the left-hand side, and the German player made a curved pass that was headed over by Pinnock, who jumped higher than everyone else in a full penalty area.

The Bees had a great chance to score five minutes after the game started. Mikkel Damsgaard made a precise pass that broke through the Luton defense and sent Lewis-Potter running towards the goal, but he missed the shot because Issa Kaboré was rushing to get back and put pressure on him. Lewis-Potter used to play for Hull City.

On the opposite side, Mark Flekken remained strong at his close post and pushed out Alfie Doughty's quick shot from a difficult position within the penalty area following the wing-back's low pass that bounced back to him.

Luton's victory on 19 minutes was attributed to the efforts of Thomas Kaminski. A fast Brentford counterattack, instigated by Flekken's quick reflexes in releasing Mbeumo after a corner kick by the Hatters, resulted in Sergio Reguilón receiving the ball on the left side. Reguilón's long cross was met by Lewis-Potter's header that was almost going into the net when Kaminski pulled off a brilliant save to deny them.

However, Kaminski was defeated just five minutes after his previous attempt. Mbeumo redirected Ajer's pass to Wissa, who had moved in from the right side. Wissa then kicked the ball with perfect timing and accuracy from a distance of 20 yards, sending it straight into the top corner and out of the reach of the goalkeeper.

Jordan Clark was able to spot Tahith Chong in an open area within the Brentford box and passed the ball to him. However, Chong missed the chance to score as he shot over the bar. This happened while Luton was trying to even out the score.

At around the 30-minute mark, Kaboré almost accidentally scored for the opposing team by almost kicking Ajer's low pass into his own net. Later on, the Norwegian player tried to score with a downward header after receiving a corner kick from Mathias Jensen, but it was blocked by the defense.

Lewis-Potter was passed the ball by Wissa on the left side and then changed direction to his right. He shot the ball hard, but Mengi was able to prevent it from getting past him and blocked it near the box.

Luton was having a hard time keeping up with the Bees' dynamic forward line. Just before half time, Reguilón and Wissa worked together nicely on the edge of the penalty area, passing the ball to Mbeumo. He quickly shot towards the goal, but unfortunately, the ball hit the top bar and Luton were eventually able to clear their lines.

Brentford's determination resulted in a goal when Wissa scored again only two minutes later. Reece Burke was unable to clear Mbeumo's pass from the lower right side of the field, allowing the DR Congo athlete to effortlessly tap the ball into the net from just six yards away.

After Gabriel Osho made a cross, Carlton Morris received it and shot the ball, but unfortunately, Ajer blocked it, which resulted in the ball losing its power. As a result, Flekken was able to gather the ball without any difficulty.

Bees Dominate Kenilworth Road With Pinnock, Lewis-Potter And Schade Scoring

Brentford continued with the same speed and intention they had when the second half began.

At the 56th minute mark, Ajer used his head to redirect Reguilón’s curving free-kick, but unfortunately it missed the left post of Kaminski's goal.

After three minutes, Kaminski blocked Damsgaard's shot close to the ground, and then swiftly grabbed the ball as Lewis-Potter moved forward to try and get the rebound.

As the Kenilworth Road stadium audience became increasingly frustrated, Brentford increased their lead just over an hour into the game. Pinnock won a battle against Osho and connected with Reguilón's corner kick. His header then sailed past a motionless Kaminski.

Right after the start of the game, Brentford scored their fourth goal. Mbeumo was able to catch Damsgaard's high ball over Luton's defensive line and immediately crossed it to Lewis-Potter at the back post. Lewis-Potter quickly reacted and managed to head the ball into the goal before Fred Onyedinma could get it.

Even though Frank's team was winning by a lot, they still kept trying hard. During the 74th minute, Reguilón acted like he was going to shoot, but instead, he made a really good pass into the box. Ajer jumped up really high and hit the ball with his head, but Kaminski stopped it really well.

At the 79th minute, Mbeumo hurried towards Janelt's long pass and shot the ball towards Kaminski but the goalkeeper kept it well. Shortly after, Kevin Schade ran past Daiki Hashioka and crossed the ball low from the edge of the field, but it was cleared by the opposing team.

At the end of the game, Osho attempted a final effort to stop Neal Maupay from having a direct shot at the goalpost. This happened after an seamless play by Brentford, starting from their defensive position and moving swiftly towards the opponent's side.

It seemed like Schade was a threat, and he managed to score the fifth goal with only four minutes remaining in regular playtime. Mbeumo gracefully passed Ross Barkley and connected with Janelt, who then quickly passed the ball towards the goal area, only for the substitute to strike it into an empty net.

After enduring some speculative attempts from Maupay and Reguilón, Luke Berry managed to intercept Janelt’s pass to Norgaard. He then skillfully maneuvered around the goalkeeper Flekken and scored a goal for Luton, which unfortunately came too late to make a significant impact on the outcome of the game.

The starting lineup for Luton Town in their most recent game was Kaminski playing as the goalkeeper, supported by Burke, Mengi, and Osho as defenders. Kaboré, Lokonga (substituted for Hashioka in the 71st minute), Barkley, and Doughty were positioned in midfield. Up front, Clark (replaced by Mpanzu in the 81st minute), Chong (substituted for Townsend in the 71st minute), and Morris formed the attacking trio.

The following players were left out of the game: Shea, Berry, Woodrow, Krul, Onyedinma and Johnson.

Brentford played in a 4-3-3 formation with Flekken as their goalkeeper. Ajer was substituted by Roerslev in the 76th minute, while Collins and Pinnock played the full game in defense. Reguilón was their left back. In midfield, Janelt, Damsgaard, and Jensen started the game. Later on, Nørgaard replaced Damsgaard in the 71st minute while Yarmoliuk took Jensen's place in the 82nd minute. Up front, Brentford had a trio of Mbeumo, Wissa, and Lewis-Potter, who was also replaced in the 71st minute by Schade. Maupay and Yarmoliuk were introduced late in the game, with only 8 minutes left to play.

The players who did not participate in the game were Strakosha, Zanka, Ghoddos, and Onyeka.

No Team Has Endured Our Domination - Frank

The Bees' coach, Thomas Frank, described their display against Luton as "fantastic" and commended Yoane Wissa for scoring two goals in the first half of the match. They went on to win 5-1 at Kenilworth Road.

"I am immensely pleased," proclaimed the Bees manager. "The triumph and the display were both exceptional. This campaign has been protracted, and we have faced difficulties. Nevertheless, we have gone undefeated for five games now."

I have great admiration for Luton. The performance of the players and Rob Edwards at Kenilworth Road has posed a significant challenge for every opposing team. No other team has been able to accomplish what we achieved against them today.

The players did an amazing job during the performance. We had to work hard to get the opportunity to attack by defending skillfully, and that's what we did. We were excellent when we went on the offense and when we played in the background.

"Our concentration remained unwavering, our energy and effort levels remained high, and we managed to score the necessary goals. The level of control we exhibited was greater than what I anticipated, and the players deserve recognition for that performance."

Regarding Wissa's opening goal, which he scored by striking the ball from 20 yards away without first having to control it, Frank expressed his admiration by exclaiming, "Wow, that was amazing!" He commended Wissa for his excellent execution of the goal and acknowledged Bryan's contribution in providing the ball that set up the opportunity. Additionally, Frank expressed his joy in Wissa's performance, especially since he had been improving for some time. As a result, Wissa ended up scoring a total of two goals in the game.

Wissa's First Premier League Double Makes Him Happy

Yoane Wissa expressed his satisfaction with his performance at Kenilworth Road, where he scored two goals. He described his first goal as good, but he believed the second one was even better. It was also his first time scoring two goals in a Premier League game, which made him very happy.

The second part was crucial because we couldn't predict Luton's capabilities. Once we got past that, everyone was performing exceptionally well, and we had complete command over the situation.

Bryan Mbeumo played an important part in Wissa's two goals at Kenilworth Road, and Wissa confessed that he wasn't caught off guard.

The speaker expressed that he and Bryan have familiarity with each other. They frequently communicate during both training and matches. Bryan is able to locate the speaker easily based on his knowledge of their playing style and tendencies. This facilitates smooth teamwork between them.

I feel thankful to have a fellow like him in the squad. We still have four matches left, and I hope he stays with us until the very end of the season.
