reported on a controversial proposal that is dividing the city. The proposal, which was put forward by the city's mayor, suggests the removal of a statue honoring a Confederate general from a public space in the city. This move has sparked debate, with some arguing that the statue represents an important part of the city's history, while others argue that it is a symbol of oppression and racism. Critics of the proposal are calling for the statue to remain in place, and for efforts to be made to contextualize it and educate people about the complex history it represents. Overall, this issue highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the legacy of the Confederacy in the United States, and the ways in which symbols and monuments continue to shape public discourse and identity. It is clear that there is no easy answer to these complex issues, and that any decisions made about the fate of the statue will have far-reaching implications for the future of the city and its residents.

Donald Trump is now nearer to becoming the chosen Republican candidate for president after obtaining a significant victory over Nikki Haley in South Carolina.

The ex-leader won the state of his primary competitor with a sizable distance of 20 points, notching up his fourth consecutive triumph.

Mr Trump did not talk about Ms Haley as he celebrated and she said that she will keep running. He decided to focus on the upcoming general election in November.

It's probable that there will be a rematch with whoever succeeds him as President of the United States.

After US media announced his victory on Saturday evening, he told his supporters, "We're going to confront Joe Biden directly."

"He is ruining our nation, and we intend to tell him to leave by exclaiming 'Joe, you're terminated'."

Donald Trump praised the cohesion of his political party following the outcome on Saturday, stating that such fervor had never been witnessed before. He exclaimed that the Republican Party had never been so united.

This indicates a change in his reaction to the primary that occurred in New Hampshire last month. During that time, he became very angry at Ms. Haley for giving a speech as if she had already won.

Ms Haley, a previous successful two-term governor of South Carolina, extended congratulations to her rival on their win in her public address.

Even though she promised not to give up, she stated that the approximately 40% of people who voted for her were not a small group.

She mentioned that many individuals participating in the Republican primaries have expressed their desire for another option. She made it clear that her campaign wasn't aimed at fulfilling her personal political aspirations.

She stated that she won't abandon this struggle even though most Americans have a negative view of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

She has dedicated herself to continuing the race until the upcoming Super Tuesday on March 5th, during which voters in 16 states will simultaneously cast their votes.

"I always keep my promises," stated the previous UN representative. "Tomorrow, we will be traveling to Michigan and the following week we will be visiting all of the states participating in Super Tuesday."

In her speech after the South Carolina primary on Saturday, Nikki Haley stated that she would not withdraw from the race.

The Trump campaign released a statement on Saturday rejecting Ms Haley's ongoing pursuit, claiming that she is experiencing confusion that is impairing her ability to make sound decisions, and she is no longer grounded in the real world.

The previous leader is expected to gather sufficient delegates to officially secure the nomination within the following month according to projections.

It's not looking good for Ms Haley as her rival is currently in the lead with a substantial amount of delegates and is predicted to do well in all upcoming competitions. She doesn't seem to have a straightforward strategy to move forward.

However, despite the fact that the Haley campaign is facing difficult circumstances, it has managed to persist with the help of generous funding from wealthy contributors. These donors have remained committed to supporting Haley, even though her chances of success may appear slim.

According to officials from her campaign, Ms Haley raised a whopping $16.5 million in the month of January alone. This amount exceeds her previous monthly records and significantly surpasses the fundraising figures of Mr. Trump.

Mr Trump was quick to emphasize that he thinks the primary is officially finished. As soon as the results were confirmed, he delivered his speech, not giving Ms Haley the chance to speak before him like she had in New Hampshire.

Mr. Trump had almost 20 supporters standing by his side while he delivered his winning speech following the South Carolina primary.

Standing at his platform on the grounds of the Columbia State Fair, he was accompanied by almost twenty of his supporters, including the majority of the state's political figures. He announced to an enthusiastic audience, "We weren't expecting this to happen quite so soon."

This victory is definitely something Mr Trump can be proud of. The BBC's US partner, CBS News, conducted a survey of voters as they left the polling stations and the results showed that the former president won over Ms Haley among both male and female voters across all ages. Additionally, he gained significant support from white evangelicals and voters who consider themselves highly conservative.

Expressing gratitude for their backing, 77-year-old President Trump reminded his listeners that there is still a great deal of labor to be accomplished.

According to Andre Chang, a 21-year-old who spoke to BBC, Donald Trump is the only contender who is ready to take on the ruling class, especially the unaccountable bureaucrats and technocrats who control the capital of the United States.

The senior from the University of South Carolina expressed that playing with the Democrats is like taking a major risk or gamble similar to playing the game of Russian roulette with a handgun.

Trump is like a gun, and I want to take another chance by spinning the cylinder once more.

Noel Caldwell, who is 85 years old, stated that Mr. Trump strongly believes in endorsing Israel as a country.

Moreover, Trump accomplished greatly by enhancing our military, upholding the border control, and stabilizing inflation. Currently, governmental body is not addressing these vital aspects," stated the Lake Murray inhabitant.

Micah Rea, who is the national committeeman for the South Carolina Young Republicans, said that Ms Haley did not gain enough support from voters despite having an advantage of being in her hometown. This was because voters were not happy with the way she had been criticizing Trump.

He stated that it is becoming increasingly clear that her campaign is not succeeding and it would be beneficial for the party if she were to withdraw.

The people who support Haley said that their votes were a way of opposing "demagoguery" and the perceived threat to democracy that they feel Mr. Trump poses.

Sian Owens expressed that America has a soft spot for the underdog, and in her opinion, they have found a contender who fits that description.

"Donald Trump is currently facing legal challenges that may be affecting his ability to fully concentrate on the issues facing our country. How much of his attention can he realistically devote to the betterment of our nation amidst these ongoing legal troubles?"

Next month, the ex-leader will confront the initial of four judicial procedures.

He is currently responsible for over $500 million, as a result of two separate legal judgements against him in New York. One was for sexual assault and defamation, while the other was for fraudulent business practices.

As Mr Biden gains a significant financial lead over him in what could potentially be the priciest US Presidential campaign to date, Mr Trump is depending more and more on contributions to pay for his mounting legal expenses.

It seems that the Republican Party might be able to provide support for him. He has strengthened his control by endorsing important supporters to lead the party's national committee.

Lara Trump, who is married to his son, has been chosen to be the new co-chair of the Republican Party. She has promised to use all of the party's money to assist Donald Trump in his legal battles.
