Nikki Haley says ‘I have a duty’ to stay in race despite latest loss to Trump

Nikki Haley

After experiencing her fourth consecutive loss in the Republican presidential primary, Nikki Haley is scheduled to visit Michigan on Sunday. This defeat came on her home turf of South Carolina, where Donald Trump secured another resounding victory with more than ten percentage points ahead of the competition. This win for Trump consolidates his stronghold within the Republican party, and prompts doubts as to Haley's justification for staying in the primary race.

When speaking to her supporters at a gathering in Charleston on election night, Haley skillfully argued that her candidacy was a necessary moral decision for the numerous voters who were unsatisfied with the idea of a second election between Trump and Joe Biden in November.

Earlier this week, I made a promise that I would remain a presidential candidate, regardless of what happens in South Carolina. As a reliable person, I will keep my word. In the following ten days, 21 other states and territories will cast their votes. I strongly believe that they should have the opportunity to make a genuine choice, and not be limited by a sham election with only one contender, similar to that of the Soviet Union. Therefore, I feel obligated to offer them that choice.

On Friday, the Haley campaign made an announcement that it would be spending a large amount of money on ads in states participating on Super Tuesday. Additionally, Haley herself will be holding a rally in Troy, Michigan, on Sunday evening. Despite this important event, Haley's supporters have continued to donate to her campaign, which raised an impressive $11.5 million just in the month of January. This last accomplishment marks her most successful fundraising month yet. Interestingly, according to official reports released by the government, Haley was able to raise more money than former President Trump himself, who only raised $8.8 million in January.

It's doubtful that Haley will win in Michigan's upcoming primary on Tuesday. According to a recent poll from Morning Consult, Trump is far ahead of Haley by 60 points, with 79% of support compared to her 19%. Trump gave a speech in Columbia, South Caroline, on Saturday night, celebrating his latest victory. He confidently stated that he will continue to win, not just in Michigan, but in all 15 states that will be voting on Super Tuesday, come March 5th.

Trump expressed his confidence in Michigan, stating that they will achieve great accomplishments there. He also thanked South Carolina and encouraged his supporters to take a break and prepare for the hard work ahead.

Who is campaigning for the position of president?

Trump's supporters are getting more and more frustrated with Haley's bid for the presidency. They believe her weak campaign is only being kept afloat by her wealthy donors. However, Haley remains confident that she has a better chance of beating Biden in the upcoming election. A recent survey by Marquette Law School revealed that Haley has a 16-point lead over Biden when it comes to registered voters. In comparison, Trump only has a 4-point lead over the current president among the same demographic.

In Charleston, Haley expressed her observation of the dissatisfaction of South Carolina towards the current state of the country. Such frustration, according to her, is not exclusive to the state but is also prevalent across the nation. As for Haley, she personally empathizes with the said sentiment and is deeply affected by it.

However, the truth of the matter is that if we don't make the correct decisions, America will collapse. This isn't about myself or my career in politics. Our primary objective is to defeat Joe Biden in the upcoming November elections. Unfortunately, I don't have faith in Donald Trump's ability to defeat Joe Biden.
