Leicester City team news v Southampton as two changes made and Jamie Vardy starts again

Leicester City vs Southampton

Enzo Maresca has made two changes to the Leicester City squad for their important match against Southampton, with Jamie Vardy once again playing as the centre forward for the second time in four matches.

It's not often that Vardy stays in the starting lineup for two consecutive games, but he's leading the forward line once again in their match against the Saints. This comes just a short while after he began and netted a goal against West Brom. The squad is only making two adjustments, and they both concern the defence.

Even though Hamza Choudhury performed exceptionally well in the match against West Brom, he will not be playing in the upcoming game, as Ricardo Pereira has been selected to play as the right-back. The Portuguese player had been given a break in the previous game against the Baggies, as he had played continuously for three games, for a duration of 90 minutes each, in just a span of seven days.

Another modification involves James Justin being placed at left-back. This switch results in Wout Faes reverting to his customary position as a centre-back and Conor Coady being relegated to the substitutes' bench.

In other words, no changes were made to the team and the bench from the previous weekend. The reserve strikers are Patson Daka and Tom Cannon, while Kelechi Iheanacho was not included. Kasey McAteer was chosen as one of the wingers, leaving Marc Albrighton and Wanya Marcal without a spot.

The starting lineup for City is composed of Hermansen as the goalkeeper, with Ricardo, Faes, Vestergaard, and Justin serving as the defenders. The midfielders are Winks, Ndidi, and Dewsbury-Hall, while the forwards consist of Fatawu, Vardy, and Mavididi. The substitutes are Stolarczyk, Coady, Doyle, Choudhury, Praet, Yunus, McAteer, Daka, and Cannon.
