Sydney church stabbing: Teen accused of stabbing Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel allegedly 'waited for...

Mar Mari Emmanuel

A family member reports that the parents of a teenage boy who supposedly performed a devastating terror attack at a church, stabbing numerous individuals, are feeling horrified and anguished due to their son's alleged behavior.

On Monday around 7pm, a person whose identity remains undisclosed due to legal issues, reportedly attacked Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel while he was delivering his sermon at the Christ The Good Shepherd Church located in Wakeley, situated in the western part of Sydney. The individual is said to have plunged a sharp object into the Bishop's head resulting in injury.

Father Isaac Royel is a member of the Assyrian ministry at St Shimun Bar Sabbae and St. Mary Cathedral. He was one of several churchgoers who tried to get involved in a situation. Unfortunately, he was hurt and suffered cuts and a wound on his shoulder.

People who attend church mentioned that they had noticed the supposed attacker walking around the outside of the church prior to the assault, and they mentioned that he appeared different from the usual members of the congregation.

According to Mary Anoya, he was aware that the service was being broadcasted live and he patiently waited for the camera to start before the supposed assault took place.

Both males as well as the adolescent boy who is 16 years old were transported to the medical facility due to injuries that are not critical. The young teenager is currently being monitored by the authorities.

A family member has spoken out about their disbelief regarding the occurrence from the previous night. They referred to the young man as a reserved adolescent who had no association with terrorism or supporting ISIS.

A 16-year-old boy (shown in a photo) has been taken into custody for carrying out a terrorist assault at a church located in the western part of Sydney.

It is said that the attack was broadcasted in real-time on the church's YouTube channel.

The family member expressed that the parents were extremely worried and panicked. They were unsure of how to handle the situation and couldn't understand why it occurred.

This child spends most of his time indoors, but surprisingly, he doesn't have access to a computer at home. The statements that have been reported to have come from him do not align with his character as far as I know.

He doesn't talk much. He has been considering quitting school and finding employment, possibly in the construction field.

The young lad is part of a trio of siblings. His dad is originally from Lebanon and has been driving taxis in Australia for the past quarter of a century. They all reside in a modest abode situated in the south-western region of Sydney.

According to a family member, the parents of the teenager live a typical Australian lifestyle. However, on Monday, they grew worried when their son left home and failed to come back.

Following the reported stabbing incident, the family member shared that the distressed father of the boy had reached out to him in a state of distress.

"He stated that they were unaware of their son's whereabouts or the current situation."

The family I assisted were down-to-earth individuals. They were nice and humble, but they required my aid in acquiring information from law enforcement regarding the proper destination.

To the best of my knowledge, the adolescent has never been in any sort of difficulty, and the notion that he supports ISIS is absurd.

On Tuesday, people noticed police officers searching the residence of the family. The detectives carried two bigger bags for evidence and a black case while they were leaving the premises.

Due to injuries that are not life-threatening, Bishop Emmanuel (left) and Father Royel (right) were hurriedly taken to the medical center.

Family members arrived at the house to demonstrate their encouragement for the boy's parents and could be observed entering and exiting the property throughout the afternoon.

Daily Mail Australia tried to reach out to the boy's father, but he handed the phone over to another family member. This person apologized and stated that they were not ready or able to speak at the moment.

Fresh information has emerged indicating that the young man in question had already appeared before a court for carrying a knife.

Last November, he was accused of several violations following an occurrence at a train station in Sydney with three other boys of his age. The charges against him include having a knife, intimidating and/or stalking, and recklessly destroying or damaging property.

In January, he was given bail and put on probation for good conduct following the resolution of his case.

At the moment of the supposed assault, there were no orders from a court or any surveillance from law enforcement on him.

Bishop Mar Mari is a highly regarded figure within an extremely traditional branch of the Assyrian orthodox community. He has amassed a sizable following on various social media platforms.

During the pandemic, he became well-known for criticizing the Covid lockdown in Sydney by calling it 'mass slavery'. Additionally, he argued that getting vaccinated is pointless because maintaining a normal lifestyle will increase one's immunity.

The stabbing incident was labeled as a 'terror incident' by Karen Webb, who is the Police Commissioner of New South Wales. Investigation is being done by detectives to determine if the boy involved has any connections with extremist viewpoints.

The church's YouTube channel aired a dreadful clip of a supposed assault where numerous worshipers could be seen yelling and running towards the bishop to help him as he collapsed onto the floor.

The young lad was then held down until the authorities showed up.

The occurrence caused unrest and uproar among a furious group of churchgoers who engaged in physical confrontations with law enforcement officers in their efforts to reach the young boy. The child had to be moved away from the crowd to protect him.

Amidst the chaos, objects were hurled towards law enforcement officials, over 20 squad cars were compromised, and items were taken without permission.

A group of people invaded multiple houses to gather weapons to throw at the police, causing injuries to two law enforcement officers who needed medical attention.

A 16-year-old was kicked out of the church and rushed to the hospital for a surgical procedure due to the injuries he incurred during an assumed assault.

He unintentionally amputated one of his own fingers amidst the supposed assault, following initial speculations on social networking platforms that he had been harmed by a group of vigilantes.

A team has been formed in NSW to investigate an incident related to terrorism. This team is made up of members from various organizations including the NSW Police Force, Australian Federal Police, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation and the NSW Crime Commission.
