Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham honoured at the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards

On Monday the 22nd of April, the English individual received an award for World Breakthrough of the Year.

Jude Bellingham is currently considered as one of the most outstanding rising stars in the sport of football.

The English football player has gained recognition for his success on the international level at the Laureus World Sports Awards held in Madrid on Monday, April 22nd.

The individual who is twenty years old was given the World Breakthrough of the Year Award. They are now the initial soccer athlete to receive this recognition.

Bellingham, hailing from Midlands, has been making waves in the city of Madrid since joining Real last year. Their team is currently at the top of La Liga and has also secured a spot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

He set a high standard for his first season with Los Blancos by scoring 10 goals in his first 10 starts. This marked the beginning of his journey to becoming a star player, which started five years ago.

He spent nine years in the Birmingham City Academy before finally making his debut during the 2019/20 season, gaining the title of being the youngest player in the club's first team at only 16 years old.

Bellingham was incredibly skilled and during his inaugural senior season, several prominent clubs expressed interest in signing him. Ultimately, Borussia Dortmund was successful in adding him to their team.

He made such a big difference for the Blues that they decided to permanently retire his number 22 jersey when he left the team.

During Jude's first season at Dortmund, the club won the DFB-Pokal and he received numerous individual awards over his three-year tenure.

Real Madrid revealed in 2023 that they would be hiring an individual from England to join their team at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Bellingham has effectively adapted to the 'star player' position and is expected to assist Real Madrid in achieving a dual victory during his debut season in Spain.

In Birmingham, England on April 10th, 2024, there was a mural of ex-Birmingham City football player Jude Bellingham located near the stadium. The mural was visible before the Sky Bet Championship game between Birmingham City and Cardiff City which was being held at St Andrews Stadium. On 06 August 2019, Jude Bellingham played his first game for Birmingham in the EFL cup when they traveled to Portsmouth. Towards the end of the same month on 25 August, he got his first start in the Championship game when they lost to Swansea.

After five days, specifically on August 31st, Bellingham managed to strike his first goal in the senior division of the Blues, granting them a 2-1 triumph. To further his success, he managed to net another goal after two weeks which gave his team another victory against Preston with the score of 1-0.

Last year, the youngster inked his inaugural pro deal with Birmingham to guarantee that they would get some money if he transferred to Borussia Dortmund. Ultimately, he was sold for a whopping 25 million pounds, setting a record as the priciest 17-year-old in history.

Moving to Germany meant that he would soon have an opportunity to be called up for the England national team. This happened when he played his first game for the Three Lions in a 3-0 victory against the Republic of Ireland on 12 November 2020.

At Euro 2022, he joined Gareth Southgate's team and helped them win against Croatia. This made him the youngest English player to ever participate in a major tournament at the age of 17 years and 349 days.

It took Bellingham two years to score his first goal for the senior team. The goal was scored during England's 2022 World Cup opener against the Islamic Republic of Iran, resulting in a 6-2 victory for England. This made Bellingham the second-youngest player in World Cup history to score a goal.
