Bellingham reported to La Liga after allegation he called Greenwood a ‘rapist’

Jude Bellingham

La Liga has received a report accusing Jude Bellingham of referring to Mason Greenwood as a "rapist" during the Real Madrid vs Getafe match on Thursday.

Officials from Getafe made a request for the alleged comment by Bellingham to be documented in the match report by the referee. The complaint has been handed over to La Liga and is now being addressed officially.

The Spanish top league saw two players face each other for the first time. Madrid, where Bellingham plays, won 2-0 against Greenwood's team. The two players frequently came into contact during the game. After a tackle that Bellingham made on Greenwood, he was caught on camera mouthing the word "rapist."

Fans who were watching the event unfold on TV noticed the incident and started speculating that Bellingham may have used the word "rubbish." La Liga has confirmed that a lip reader will review the footage to determine what was actually said.

Yesterday, Getafe made a complaint, which was then passed on to the director of La Liga. As is standard protocol in such cases, La Liga has requested an expert report to investigate the issue further. The report will focus on lip reading and will help determine the appropriate course of action based on indisputable evidence provided by the lip reader. La Liga issued a statement confirming these details.

In October of 2022, Greenwood faced charges of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behavior by the Greater Manchester police. However, in February of 2023, the authorities dropped the case after evidence came to light and key witnesses withdrew their cooperation from the investigation. Despite the charges being dropped, Greenwood still maintains his innocence and denies all allegations against him.

Greenwood is currently on loan to Getafe for the season, but there are rumors that he may not be coming back to Manchester United. Some sources suggest that he could potentially make a permanent move to Spain and continue his career there.
