Liverpool is in discussions with Feyenoord regarding Arne Slot, who they have selected as their top choice to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Slot, the team that emerged victorious in the Dutch Cup last week and was the winner of the Eredivisie last season, still has two years remaining on the contract extension he agreed to last summer.

Liverpool may have to compete with Barcelona and Bayern Munich for the services of a 45-year-old, as Slot has emerged as a rival for various top positions that will become available in the upcoming months.

Since November, the club from Merseyside has been aware that they would need to select a replacement for Klopp. However, the process has gained momentum after Michael Edwards accepted the position of Fenway Sports Group's CEO of football, and Richard Hughes will join as sporting director.

Liverpool looked at several potential managers, one of whom was Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon. However, Xabi Alonso was initially the top candidate for the job but ultimately opted to remain with Bayer Leverkusen.

Slot is known for their dynamic and aggressive style of football, as well as for their ability to develop players. These are both qualities that Liverpool values as they continue under the leadership of Klopp.
