Does Chris Pine Sing In 'Wish'?

Chris Pine will be portraying the character of Magnifico in the upcoming Disney film called 'Wish.'

It's true! The singing voice you hear in Disney's latest animation, Wish, belongs to none other than Chris Pine. Even though Pine displayed his singing talent in the 2014 musical, Into the Woods, he confessed to being nervous about singing again. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pine admitted that singing isn't something he's particularly skilled at or accustomed to doing.

Pine acted as Cinderella's Prince Charming in the film version of Into the Woods. During a recording session, he shared a personal experience when Stephen Sondheim joined them together with the entire orchestra. Sadly, Sondheim, who was a renowned composer and lyricist in Broadway, passed away in 2021 at the age of 91.

When I left, he asked me about a note from the second part of the song. I responded with "B," but he corrected me and said it was actually an A-flat. Pine told Entertainment Weekly that this incident made him very afraid because it was clear that the man had heard his mistake. So to sum up, I was extremely scared during that time.

Pine discussed the musical style of the Wish songs, which were written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice. He stated that they can be unconventional in their musical composition. Despite having a strong melody line, Michaels intentionally creates a contrasting melody. Pine believes that this approach allows the listener to fully grasp the lyrical message. This method is similar to that of Sondheim's atonal style, where the plot and emotions are the driving force rather than a pleasing melody.

The famous actor, who is 43 years old, also disclosed that he felt apprehensive about singing alongside DeBose. DeBose is a Broadway artist and has acted in various productions such as Bring It On: The Musical, Motown: The Musical, Pippin, Hamilton, and A Bronx Tale.

In November of 2023, Pine spoke with Entertainment Tonight and expressed how much it meant to him to sing alongside Ariana. Meanwhile, DeBose spoke highly of Pine's singing skills after learning that he wasn't fully confident in them.

She expressed to ET that Chris is an incredible singer. When she found out about her role in the movie, she was pleasantly surprised. She mentioned his performance in Into The Woods. Chris is one of those individuals who doesn't truly comprehend how gifted he is.

The performer from West Side Story stated further, "I am fond of the tone of his voice and the way he forms his sentences. He carries the persona of a fascinating antagonist. It is evident that individuals will adore despising him, and I take pleasure in observing his craft."

The movie called "Wish" is presently available for viewing on the streaming platform Disney+. Check out the preview down below.
