People who were present at a crowded shopping mall in Sydney have told stories of confusion and disorder as they tried to get away from a man with a knife. The man attacked and killed six individuals and caused injuries to multiple others.

"This is crazy," a woman clearly distressed remarked, recounting her account of witnessing a woman who was injured lying on the ground.

A large number of people flowed out of the Westfield shopping center in Bondi when the frightening incident started shortly after 3 pm.

A person who happened to be in a cafe with their two young kids witnessed a man randomly stabbing individuals.

According to the police report, the individual carrying a knife had been present at the shopping center at 3:10 PM in the local time. Shortly after, the individual returned to the mall and started attacking people with the knife.

In a recent incident, an individual who is suspected to have conducted the assaults was captured in an image while standing on an escalator with a sharp-edged tool in his hand.

The assault came to a stop when a policewoman, who happened to be on duty in the vicinity, confronted the perpetrator. The attacker brandished his knife at her but the officer retaliated by firing her weapon, according to the authorities.

An anonymous witness reported that he heard "shouts and cries" and observed individuals running. He proceeded to tail the law enforcement officer.

According to him, a man carrying a hefty sword approached them, and suddenly a woman shouted at him to drop it. Soon after, she fired a shot at him.

"If she had not fired at him, he would have continued his spree as he was out of control."

The Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, referred to the officer as a "hero".

He expressed that the distressing sights at Bondi Junction tonight are indescribable and incomprehensible to all of us.

'Shock For All'

The shopping centre where the incident occurred is called Westfield mall. It is a significant retail destination situated in the eastern part of the central business district of Sydney. It is also conveniently located near the renowned Bondi Beach.

This shopping center is widely recognized as one of the largest and most frequented in the entire country. This past Saturday was no exception, as it was bustling with hundreds of shoppers, ranging from adults to young kids.

A significant part of Sydney's Jewish population, comprising around 40,000 people, resides in this district, which is situated a brief distance from the city's primary synagogue, known as the Central.

Shoppers were extremely surprised as the attacks took place, causing them to feel horrified.

During his shopping trip, Johnny, who is 33 years old and from the New South Wales Central Coast, overheard a disturbance. He quickly turned to witness a woman and her baby being assaulted.

According to him, she was being stabbed and it left everyone stunned and unsure of how to react.

He said he saw what appeared to be another person lying on the ground nearby.

The woman who was hurt ran to the Tommy Hilfiger store and as soon as she got in, the personnel shut the doors quickly, according to him.

According to him, a few of the other shoppers attempted to stop the bleeding by using clothes and various objects.

The infant had a small injury, but the woman was in critical condition. She was bleeding copiously and experiencing high levels of anxiety," he included.

I hope she makes it.

Authorities have revealed that among the casualties of the assault was a minor, specifically a young child. Furthermore, there have been accounts that a baby aged nine months suffered harm during the incident.

According to Rashdan Aqashah, an employee of the clothing store COS, he witnessed a male individual with a pole approach and confront the assailant while they were both on an escalator.

The 19-year-old said that they had witnessed a man engaging in a fight with a dangerous person. During the altercation, the man had taken hold of a pole and attempted to hurl it at an escalator.

According to Mr. Aqashah, when the assault began to occur, everyone began to flee.

"I approached my supervisor to close the entrance of our shop. It was situated directly in front of our establishment," he conveyed.

According to the news agency Reuters, Vernon Michael was present in a shop when he overheard someone shouting, "Hurry! Somebody has been stabbed."

"We feel thankful because truthfully, a mere two minutes prior, we were seated precisely where the unfortunate incident occurred, where the initial lady was stabbed," he expressed.

One more onlooker informed Reuters news agency that they observed a wounded person lying down and were searching for the reason behind the commotion.

Suddenly, a large group of individuals came sprinting towards us, followed by the sound of a loud gunshot. My spouse quickly led us into the Adairs store where we found an employee attempting to secure the doors. However, the front entrance proved difficult to lock, so we sought refuge in the locked office area. We remained there until the police arrived to escort us to safety.
