The comedian Peter Kay had to reschedule two performances at Co-op Live venue located in Manchester. The cause of this change is because this new arena is taking a bit more time than expected to test its power systems.

The comedian who holds the record for the most successful stand-up performances was meant to be the opening act for the recently constructed venue, which now holds the title of the largest arena in the UK, on both Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

The famous actor from Phoenix Nights, who is 50 years old, expressed his disappointment in a message. He said that he feels truly upset about the situation, knowing that it will be a letdown for those who had already bought tickets. However, he acknowledged that the venue is new and safety must be a priority before allowing a full audience capacity.

Thankfully, we have managed to arrange the performances for the upcoming week, which means I'll be unable to attend my Bums & Tums exercise session. Nonetheless, I hope to see you all in attendance.

The folks at Co-op Live posted a message on their Twitter account, informing everyone that they're going to have to reschedule the first two shows with Peter Kay due to some issues encountered during the initial test event last Saturday.

The scheduled dates which were previously set for April 23 and 24 (Wednesday) have been rescheduled and changed to April 29 (Monday) and April 30 (Tuesday).

According to the venue representative, the cancellation occurred due to a problem related to the electrical supply.

It's crucial to make sure that our eco-friendly venue is powered consistently using renewable electricity. However, there has been a slight delay in completing the construction process.

Changing the schedule provides us with additional time to conduct extensive testing, which is crucial to meet the stringent standards and procedures required for a large venue.

In simpler terms, it was announced that Peter Kay will be performing his famous comedy act at Co-op Live on April 29 and 30 of 2024, since the original dates had to be rescheduled. If you already purchased a ticket, you don't need to worry as it will still be valid for the new dates. The company where you bought the ticket will reach out to you regarding any updates or changes.

The organizers noted that ticket holders who cannot make it to the event will be able to get their money back. They also mentioned that changing the date could result in new tickets being offered for those who were unable to secure a ticket previously.

The location expressed remorse, saying, "We deeply regret any trouble this alteration may bring for some individuals. Nonetheless, we are overjoyed to have Peter Kay as our main act during the opening, although it will now be happening a couple of days later than anticipated."

During the weekend, a concert preview featuring Rick Astley was also affected by delays. Ticket availability was reduced just moments before his concert was scheduled to start.

Instead of giving tickets to Astley fans which were cancelled, they have been given alternate seats to watch the Black Keys, a rock band from the United States, perform next week.

After it is completely built, the arena that can be found next to Manchester City's football stadium will be able to hold 23,500 individuals, which is more than the current Manchester Arena's capacity of 21,000.

Constructed with a projected expense of £365m, the venue boasts ex-One Direction crooner Harry Styles as a benefactor, with the pop icon also contributing suggestions on certain aspects of the arena's blueprint.

Peter Kay is currently embarking on a comeback tour, which marks his first since 2010. The tour began in December and will include performances in Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds until next year.
