On Saturday, Newcastle secured their third consecutive victory in all competitions with a comfortable 2-0 win over Burnley, thanks to goals from Miguel Almirón and Alexander Isak.

Even though the win may not be as memorable as Newcastle's crushing victory of Sheffield United or their triumphant 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Manchester City, manager Eddie Howe will surely be content with how his team played before their upcoming Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.

"We've got a lot of games on our plate, so there's not much leisure time to spare. We're always moving forward, and our next challenge is taking on PSG on Wednesday. Although we're thrilled about our victory tonight, tomorrow it's back to the grind," commented Isak.

I believe the guys are very excited and the supporters, as well as the entire town, are thrilled to have the opportunity to play the first Champions League match in St James' Park after a lengthy break. Cross your fingers that it will be an amazing evening for our team.

Burnley, in search of their maiden league triumph of the season, launched a powerful attack at the beginning. They created the primary opportunity through a cross by Luca Koleosho that landed at the feet of Zeki Amdouni. Amdouni smacked a ferocious shot directly at Newcastle's keeper Nick Pope, who managed to save it.

In the 14th minute, Almiron scored the first goal by moving towards his left foot and hitting an exceptional dipping shot into the top corner. This happened after Kieran Trippier retrieved the ball from Burnley's half.

The team playing at their own stadium missed various opportunities to increase their advantage.

Isak made a strong contact with the ball, which caused James Trafford to immediately leave his post and stop the Sweden striker from scoring in the 27th minute. Later on, the Burnley goalkeeper successfully blocked a diving header from Elliot Anderson.

Trafford had a great save when Anderson took a shot from afar and aimed low just before the halftime break.

During the latter part of the game, Newcastle continued to push forward. Trippier made two attempts at crossing the ball into Burnley's penalty area, but unfortunately Longstaff and Isak were unable to capitalize on these opportunities.

Isak atoned for his previous lack of efficiency by scoring the second goal in the 76th minute with a penalty kick taken with composure, securing the victory. He tricked the opposing goalkeeper, Trafford, by aiming the ball in the opposite direction after Newcastle earned a penalty for a foul committed against Anthony Gordon by Ameen Al Dakhil.

"I didn't score many before, so that goal was really important for me. I focused on staying calm and collected," stated Isak.

We had many opportunities to score more goals, but we lacked the same level of precision as we did last week. Nevertheless, the crucial aspect is that we secured the three points.

The victory was slightly ruined by an unfortunate injury, with Joelinton suddenly stopping due to what seemed like a problem with his hamstring. The Brazilian player was taken out of the game only four minutes after joining it as a substitute.

Newcastle is still holding the eighth rank with a total of 12 points accumulated throughout seven games. On the other hand, Burnley, who has been promoted recently, is currently ranked as the second-worst with only one point in their six matches played.
