Manchester City or Newcastle United? You decide

Newcastle United

As soon as I opened my eyes today, my thoughts were consumed by Manchester City.

Alright, I confess that I was so engrossed in Newcastle United's match against Everton last night that I didn't have much headspace to contemplate the latest developments with Pep Guardiola's team.

However, as I kept thinking about why Newcastle lost this game and how Everton won it, my mind wandered towards Manchester City.

Anyway, I present you with a task to accomplish.

Over the last three months, two Premier League teams have competed against other PL teams in domestic football matches. Here are the outcomes of those matches.

I participated in 12 matches, emerged victorious in 5, drew in 3, and suffered defeat in 4, during which my team scored 25 goals and conceded 16 goals.

The team has participated in 13 matches and has emerged victorious in 9 of them. They were able to secure a draw in two of their games and suffered two losses. The team has scored a total of 29 goals and conceded only 10.

With your expertise and discernment, try to determine which group of outcomes pertains to the domestic matches of Newcastle United from the previous three months, and which corresponds to Manchester City.

I understand that social media can be pointless because it's packed with attention-seeking drama queens. Everything is either exceptional or terrible, with no middle ground. Nonetheless, I found myself chuckling or annoyed as I read people's responses to what we saw at Goodison Park last night, as your team's performance was considered either outstanding or shameful.

Some people thought that Newcastle's performance was decent but not amazing, and that we missed some opportunities. However, others were overly negative, calling it a complete disaster and saying that Everton dominated us.

Returning to my brief Friday morning quiz, were you able to answer it correctly?

Manchester City's current record shows that they have played a total of 12 games, whereby they have emerged victorious in 5 matches, drawn 3 games and suffered defeat in 4 matches. Their overall goal tally depicts an output of 25 goals scored and 16 goals conceded.

Newcastle United has participated in a total of thirteen games, with a successful outcome of winning nine of them, two ending in a draw, and two resulting in a loss. Newcastle United's impressive track record includes scoring a total of twenty-nine goals while only conceding ten goals throughout these matches.

This is the truth.

It is true that getting defeated by Everton is a part of reality, but it is just a minor aspect.

Naturally, I would have been thrilled to emerge victorious in the games against Bournemouth and Everton.

Do you think I would exchange that experience for triumphing over Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United (not just once but twice!!)?

In the world of sports, one must be prepared for both success and failure. It's important to understand that some matches will be easier than others, and that luck can sometimes play a significant role in the outcome. For instance, a shot that hits the post may bounce in your favor, leading to an easy goal, or it may deflect in the opposite direction, leaving your team empty-handed. Additionally, referees can make calls that benefit or disadvantage your team, and your players may perform exceptionally well one day, only to struggle the next. These are all realities of the game, and it's important to accept them and keep pushing forward.

I feel devastated that Newcastle lost last night, just like I always do when it happens. In fact, there were times in the past when I felt devastated for several months.

As I examine the recent performances of Manchester City and Newcastle United in their matches against other Premier League teams over the past three months, I come to the realization that Eddie Howe and his team may be showing signs of progress and success.

It's difficult to say for certain as every set of supporters have their own individual viewpoints, but personally, I believe that whenever Newcastle United lose, there is more attention paid to it compared to when Manchester City, who have won numerous trophies in the past, suffer a defeat.

In the past ten matches against other Premier League clubs, Manchester City have managed to win only three and have suffered defeat in four of them.

I found it funny to learn on Tuesday evening that Villa had dominated Manchester City and won the game fairly (they should have won 4-0 or 5-0, not just 1-0), especially as Guardiola's team was missing some important players.

It's quite amusing to see that most of the players who were still playing on the field could easily make it into any leading Premier League team.

Newcastle United is devoid of not just a few essential players, but rather a complete team and substitutes! This has been the case for most of the last three months.

Get ready and let's do it again.
