The vibrant Peruvian cuisine created by Diego Oka has proven to be timeless.

Making it to the ten year anniversary mark is a significant accomplishment for any restaurant, especially in today's competitive industry. With this milestone approaching, it's a noteworthy achievement that should be celebrated and acknowledged. La Mar by Gastón Acurio, the highly regarded Peruvian eatery situated on Miami's upscale Brickell Key within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, is reaching this important milestone this month.

With the guidance of the exceptionally gifted executive chef Diego Oka, La Mar by Gastón Acurio has been consistently praised as a top spot for fine dining ever since its establishment in 2014. Throughout its journey, it has received honors from the Florida MICHELIN Guide, the World's 50 Best Discovery, and most recently, it was recognized as the "Best Peruvian Restaurant in the U.S." by El Comercio, the largest newspaper of Peru.

To commemorate ten years of being a leading presence in Miami's dynamic restaurant scene, La Mar is organizing two extravagant culinary events that will showcase famous individuals from the worldwide gastronomy industry.

While we honor La Mar's 10th year celebration, my heart is overflowing with appreciation for the members of my team. A few of them have been here from the start, and their commitment and enthusiasm have been crucial on our path. I'm also extremely grateful for the continuous backing of Miami's culinary community." States Oka.

I have been a big admirer of La Mar from the very beginning. When I used to work in a corporate setting, I would frequently go there for lunch. Now, whenever someone asks me for recommendations for a luxurious brunch or a fantastic dinner, La Mar is always on top of my list. The quality of the food is consistently excellent, and the view it offers of the city is truly remarkable.

Of course, I eagerly took the opportunity to meet with Chef Oka. We had a conversation about the imminent birthday festivities, his latest projects in the kitchen, and his opinions on the essentials for triumphing in the current culinary landscape.

This is how it happened.

"Secret Sauce For La Mar's 10-year Fan Favorite Restaurant Status In Miami"

Diego Oka stated that he completely agrees and is extremely pleased with the accomplishments of the team. Over the span of 10 years, they have achieved a great deal and observed the city's rapid growth, which makes them feel like they're still just starting out. Being a part of Miami's food industry is a great source of pride for everyone at La Mar, but they understand the importance of continuing to learn and contribute to the community.

To create a signature sauce, you require numerous components of top-notch quality - and I'm not referring to edibles. It's the devoted crew that has committed several years to this mission with genuine zeal. Personally, I've been situated in Miami for a decade now and have been a part of La Mar for a cumulative of nineteen years. We all have faith in this initiative and have integrated it into our existence.

La Mar in Miami has created a one-of-a-kind style that has inspired many other restaurants and chefs. A particular masterpiece that we introduced was the causa dish made as a long cylinder with an exquisite presentation and striking colors. It's exciting to see how this idea has been adopted and replicated by other skilled chefs worldwide. Although some may view it as copying, as a chef, it is a privilege to witness my work inspiring others.

Will La Mar Add New Menu Items To Celebrate 10 Years?

I am thrilled to share that I have a passion for pottery in addition to my other interests. This year, we are introducing a unique and stunning multi-course tasting menu, served on handmade dishware that I will personally create. Not only will I craft the 400 stoneware pieces, but I will also curate the food to ensure a memorable culinary adventure.

I have started a lengthy undertaking with the aim of doing something unique and motivating others to unleash their creativity. A profession in cooking is not limited to culinary aspects only, as it involves several fields. I feel grateful to Mandarin Oriental, Miami for providing me with the chance to convert a room into my pottery studio. This has indeed made me ecstatic!

Discover A New Tasting Menu: Exciting And Unique!

The tasting menu is a delightful voyage of discovery for those who love to try new things. It's an exclusive opportunity and can only be availed by a maximum of 15 guests each day. Since La Mar is quite extensive, executing such an experience on a larger scale would be challenging. So, we deemed it fit to keep the affair cozy, allowing the restaurant to maintain its reputation as an animated and happening place that people adore.

YES, we have a big reason to celebrate! It's not every day you hit a 10-year anniversary in the restaurant industry. To mark the occasion, we're planning two days of festivities starting on Thursday, March 28th. We've invited some of the most skilled and renowned Peruvian chefs and friends to join us. These include CENTRAL by Virgilio Martinez, which is currently ranked as the best restaurant in the world. Also joining us is Pia León of Kjolle, who was recently named the world's best female chef. Maido, the #1 restaurant in Latin America and #6 in the world thanks to owner Micha Tsumura will also be present, alongside the legendary Chef Gastón Acurio!

We are working collaboratively to make a completely unique 6-course tasting menu, unlike anything that has been done before! We want to offer this exceptional dining experience to our devoted La Mar patrons and those who have shown the greatest support towards us over the course of the last decade. Despite the impressive chefs involved, we have ensured that the cost of this dinner remains within budget, as a way to show our appreciation to our guests.

On Friday, March 29th, we're throwing the ultimate party at La Mar! Our beautiful venue will be decked out with glamorous boho decorations, tiki torches, and we'll have live entertainment from a Latin band and a DJ who was nominated for a Latin Grammy - Mr. Pauer. Plus, you'll enjoy unparalleled views of the city! This isn't your typical sit-down affair - we're turning the space into one big dance floor with plenty of cocktail and food stations. And the food will be phenomenal! We're bringing in some of Miami's finest chefs including Valerie Chang from Maty's, Karla Hoyos from Tacotomia, Carlos Garcia from Leku, Ale, Chema, and Santi from Miami Slice, and Martha Palacios from Jarana, who will be serving up her signature picarones.

The popular dishes from La Mar will also be available, along with some unique items and stations serving seafood spread across the area. Additionally, there will be a multitude of options such as endless pisco sours, a booth highlighting Coconut Rum, a bar for Tito's, a station dedicated to Estrella Damm, and even a place where you can make your own pisco drinks, and much more. The greatest part is that everything will be endless throughout the entire night, starting at 7:30 pm until 1:00 am!

Wow, this sounds like an amazing celebration that I definitely don't want to miss out on. Thankfully, tickets are currently being sold through SevenRooms and can be purchased by anyone for a price of $195 each. It's important to act fast and secure your spot before they're all sold out.
