They had a couple of half chances through Rodrygo - who hit the post - and Vinicius, before the Brazilian pounced on an error to put Madrid ahead with a chip. 

Al Ahly have given Madrid a game here, with forward Sherif coming close and El Shahat also having an effort saved. This is far from over and Madrid know that.

They get a corner, which is cleared away by Rudiger and Madrid go on the counter attack - with Nacho somehow up there and shooting wide. One minute added on.

27: Tchouameni takes a pop at goal from just outside the box - it's hit with venom and El Shenawy does not deal with it well at all! He lets it spill out of his hands but luckily no Madrid attacker is lurking to punish and Al Ahly clear.

Up the other end, the Egyptians nearly go 1-0 up as El Shahat pegs it back for Sherif but somehow Alaba gets back to block.
