Papa John's to close 43 branches across the UK to boost profit and investment

In an attempt to increase their earnings, approximately 10% of Papa John's pizza establishments in the United Kingdom will be shutting down.

Out of the 450 locations of the company all over the country, it has been discovered that 43 of them are not producing satisfactory results and thus, are considered to be financially unprofitable for the company.

Papa John's announced that the locations will shut down before mid-May. The restaurant chain will inform affected employees beforehand.

The company has refused to disclose the exact number of employees who will lose their jobs. Additionally, they have not provided information on the total number of employees working at the affected locations or the size of their national workforce.

Chris Phylactou, the managing director of Papa John's UK, stated that their team members are their top priority and they will receive complete assistance throughout the procedure.

We aim to collaborate with affected team members and explore chances for relocation, if any.

According to Mr. Phylactou, this decision will permit Papa John's to invest in suitable areas in collaboration with appropriate partners.

Our main goal is to achieve a prosperous growth in all our UK restaurants by implementing necessary upgrades in our operations and strategies for a better future.

He further stated that the outcomes of these strategies have motivated us.

The company made a total of more than £1 billion in sales around the globe during the last quarter of 2023.

The pizza company stated that it has upped its spending on creating new products, teaching employees and implementing new technology, and researching and upgrading technology in the United Kingdom to enhance the satisfaction of its customers.

The company stated that it will reveal new locations in "big retail associates" besides the standard stores within the upcoming months.

Papa John's is an American enterprise that ranks as the third biggest pizza delivery company globally.
