Suspicious package on plane forces closure at Manchester airport

On Tuesday evening, Manchester Airport had to shut down its airport due to an Emirates flight being under investigation by the police following reports of a doubtful parcel found on board.

The plane departed Dubai around 2:30 in the afternoon and arrived in Manchester on Tuesday evening. It was then detained for further examination.

According to the Greater Manchester police (GMP), they did not find any harmful objects and they didn't take anyone into custody. Someone mentioned that the airfield was shut down briefly after the EK019 flight landed, however, everything went back to normal at 7:55 pm.

Someone speaking for the police said: "Earlier tonight at about 7:20pm, Greater Manchester police got a message about an email saying there might be something dangerous on a plane."

The plane arrived at Manchester airport and was stopped for more examination. They carried out inspections and security screenings, but they have not found any questionable objects yet.

The individuals who were on the airplane are now getting off and there are extra law enforcement officers available to provide answers and make people feel safer. As of now, nobody has been taken into custody.

According to the Manchester Evening News, there were many police officers present on the site, and a few fire trucks were also seen on the runway.

A representative from Emirates airline has confirmed that flight EK019, which landed today in Manchester, underwent extra security procedures upon arrival.

The crew and ground teams of Emirates worked in complete collaboration with the authorities.

Once the authorities in the area gave their approval, the aircraft went ahead towards the assigned spot where the people on board got off in the usual way.
