Manchester Airport Group outlines contracts totalling £548M for design, construction and rehabilitation of airfield assets

MAG is searching for contractors to carry out runway projects at Manchester Airport, with a combined value of £548M. The process involves acquiring design, construction, and restoration services for the runways.

The team is searching for collaborators to aid in funding upcoming airfield improvements to revitalize, renew, and expand its airfield collection, which encompasses Manchester Airport, East Midlands Airport, and Stanstead Airport. The request for proposals is divided into five categories, in which the preferred contractors are expected to help carry out MAG's planned capital investment initiatives spanning over five to eight years.

The announcement declares: "MAG expects to hire important advisors and construction professionals to create and form a cooperative, involved, and lively alliance, constructed on a basis of honesty, lucidity, and a mutually agreed dedication to execute the capital plan."

Auction area number one has an estimated worth of £51 million, and the purpose is to hire a primary designer who can create designs that align with the airport's vision for investing.

Lot 2, which has a value of £185M, is currently looking for a contractor who can take on the responsibility of building or renovating all airside infrastructure that requires concrete. These infrastructure projects include taxiways, stands, aprons, and runways, as stated by MAG.

The fourth lot has a value of £44 million and is searching for a collaborator to set up the necessary electrical cables to support Aeronautical Ground Lighting. The project includes taking out old systems, putting in new ones, improving them, and keeping them in good condition at all three airports.

Lot 5, which has an estimated value of £185 million, is in need of a contractor to execute scheduled renewals throughout the three airports.

Bidders have the permission to present their proposals for all the sections, as long as it is deemed suitable.

MAG anticipates that the tenders will commence on July 1st next year, even though the contracts do not have explicit deadlines.

People who want to make an offer for any of the items have until 12pm on January 26th, 2024 to do so.
