Josie Gibson shares real reason she missed out on replacing Holly Willoughby on This Morning

Josie Gibson, a presenter on This Morning, recently shared why she didn't take over for Holly Willoughby on the well-known ITV show. She originally joined the show as a segment host in 2019 and now has added relief presenting to her responsibilities.

Holly, who is currently 43 years old, stated that she would be leaving the show last year. People started to wonder if Josie might replace her. However, the new hosts for This Morning were later announced to be Cat Deeley (who is 47 years old) and Ben Shephard (who is 49 years old). They took over from Holly and Phillip Schofield (who is 62 years old), who also left the show last year. Though Josie is still a guest host for the program.

During a recent conversation with the Daily Mail, Josie clarified that residing outside of London with her five-year-old son Reggie whom she shares with a former partner would have caused her inconvenience in filling one of the positions vacated by Holly and Phil. She stated her desire to accept the job had she been living in London.

Josie Gibson recently discussed the fact that she did not take over Holly Willoughby's position on This Morning.

"I may not reside in London, but rather in Bath. This is where I spend my days and where my loved ones are. Moreover, I realize that this moment in my life as a parent to my son is irreplaceable."

In a recent interview, Josie confessed that being a presenter had been a lifelong dream of hers. She showed gratitude to the producers for recognizing her talent and giving her a chance. Josie expressed her appreciation for This Morning, acknowledging the show's kindness towards her.

She also discussed how the team has been very understanding of her duties as a parent, explaining that she's "balancing" them with work tasks.

ITV's This Morning made an announcement in February that Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard will replace the current hosts from Monday to Thursday. Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary will still present on Fridays. Cat, who is recognized for her role on So You Think You Can Dance, shared her enthusiasm before their first show. She stated that she's looking forward to collaborating with the crew, producers, and the remarkable presenters.

She expressed her longing for the comradeship of working with a group, stating that she had been hosting alone for the past few years and yearned for the feeling of camaraderie. She also added that it would be delightful to be a member of such an incredible team.

Josie and her child Reggie, who is currently five years of age.

Ben, who has formerly appeared on Good Morning Britain, revealed his excitement: "This Morning is the perfect blend for me - sleeping in, enjoying cheesecake, and collaborating with a superb team! I'm genuinely thrilled, as I've been a fan of the program for many years, and being able to work there from Monday to Thursday makes me feel incredibly fortunate."
