Joely Richardson has shared that, following her 50th birthday, she struggled to find an agent who would represent her.

On Tuesday's episode of This Morning, the actress, who is currently 59 years old, talked about the issue of age discrimination in the entertainment industry.

Currently, Joely is appearing in a fresh Netflix series called The Gentlemen along with Vinnie Jones and Theo James. Nonetheless, she is renowned for her portrayals of Julia McNamara on the FX drama, Nip/Tuck, and Katherine Parr on the Showtime series, The Tudors.

During an appearance on This Morning, she revealed the challenges she faced in her career after reaching the age of 50. Specifically, her agent retired at a relatively young age in order to care for her mother.

I attempted to secure a different agent but faced rejection as none of them showed interest in me. Unfortunately, my age being above fifty as a woman seemed to be a major barrier.

Joely Richardson recently disclosed that she faced difficulty in finding an agent when she crossed the age of 50. According to her, no agent was willing to represent her at that time.

At the moment, Joely can be seen acting in the latest Netflix show called The Gentlemen. She's working alongside Vinnie Jones and Theo James (on the right-hand side).

We began by applying to small opportunities that were available to us, just to have a chance of being considered for certain roles. Eventually, more opportunities began to surface.

In The Gentlemen, Joely portrays the role of the mommy to the character of Eddie Horniman played by Theo James. The movie centers around a noble family who inadvertently stumble upon a hidden marijuana plantation on their property and become enmeshed in the underworld of crime.

In the new series, she discussed her role and mentioned that as one ages, they tend to receive roles that are smaller and more distinct. However, what she finds fascinating is the process of discovering and embodying the character.

'These three individuals possess an air of sophistication, but their personalities are distinct from one another.'

During the program, she provided some tips to Ben Shephard, the host of This Morning, who will be hitting the milestone age of 50 in December.

She stated: 'Take pleasure in being 49, and as for turning 50, it's quite a profound experience. However, once you pass that milestone, you'll adjust to it and understand that you have a sense of liberation.'

The final phase of my life is focused on experiencing freedom. One is no longer preoccupied with concerns about others' opinions. The pressure to conform to societal norms and striving for achievement no longer dominates one's mindset. It simply allows you to be unapologetically yourself.

The film The Gentlemen features actor Theo, who is 39 years old and plays the main character named Eddie. Eddie unexpectedly inherits his father's estate, but soon discovers that it is actually a large illegal marijuana business belonging to the famous Mickey Pearson.

He is appearing in the series with the talented Chanel Cresswell, Joely, Daniel Ings, and Gaia Weiss. This is following the release of the original film in 2019.

Before her rise to fame, she appeared in Maybe Baby alongside Hugh Laurie in 2000.

During Tuesday's This Morning show, the 59-year-old performer made an appearance and talked about discrimination against aging individuals in the film industry.

During an appearance on This Morning, she spoke about her difficulties in her career after hitting 50. Specifically, she recounted how her agent retired early to care for her mother, which prompted the speaker to seek out a new agent. However, she was met with rejection across the board as no agents were interested in representing a woman who was 50 years of age or older.

Throughout the series, a variety of unpleasant individuals from the criminal underworld in Britain are interested in obtaining a share of Eddie's business.

Eager to rescue his family from the grip of the gangsters, Eddie takes on their tactics and strategies.

As he becomes more involved in the criminal world, he starts to enjoy it.

Director Guy Ritchie expressed his excitement about the upcoming production of "The Gentlemen." According to him, it is a world that he can personally relate to, and he is grateful and ecstatic to have the chance to revisit it with the help of Netflix, Miramax, and Moonage.

We can't wait to welcome fans back to that universe, showcasing fresh characters and their narratives, and I am thrilled to be working alongside such a gifted group of actors.

During her appearance on the show, she also shared some tips with Ben Shephard, the host of This Morning, who will be celebrating his 50th birthday in December.
