During a conversation with the Al Jazeera TV network, Haniyeh expressed that the deaths would not force Hamas to become more lenient as they continue to discuss a cease-fire deal with Israel, facilitated by unbiased third parties.
In 2019, Haniyeh departed from Gaza and now resides outside the country in Qatar. The leader of Hamas in Gaza is Yehya Sinwar, who was the brain behind the assault on Israel on October 7, which eventually led to a war. The attack caused the death of about 1,200 people, the majority of whom were civilians, and involved Palestinian militants capturing roughly 250 individuals.
