Tania W described the venue as an "excellent short-stay apartment" that catered for her dog. her review said: "Very well equipped apartment and generous too. Milk was left in the fridge, salt, pepper, olive oil and seasonings. A small breakfast was left too including cereal and fruit. Clean, warm albeit small. Photos make it look much bigger than it is. It is very acceptable though for a short period."

TripAdvisor user Cazzer added: "Lovely apartment, I would say definitely the best we’ve stayed in for a short break. We booked a one-bedroom apartment for three nights, the apartment has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. It was spotlessly clean (beds & pillows are usually my issue but they were excellent).

"All mod cons even a dishwasher. The little touches we much appreciated like breakfast, fruit, milk, yoghurt even croissants. Wonderful experience, Salisbury was good too. I would highly recommend Peartree if you are thinking of visiting Salisbury."

You can book a stay from £91 a night online.

"I had a smaller dinner in front of the fire within one of the drawing rooms, which was absolutely delightful. The staff were happy and attentive and made me feel like nothing was too much of an ask. Very much looking forward to my next visit."

Julia Q123 said: "We stayed in The Lords Suite, a large room with a large, comfy bed. The room is on the ground floor looking out of patio doors onto the garden. The room includes a large, squishy sofa and a small kitchen area, which is very well-equipped.

"The main room was very comfortable. Our bathroom again was of a good size but it was cold. It is also in need of updating. The edges of the fittings are stained and a bit grubby. We didn’t use the bath or shower as they were not very inviting. Such a shame.

"The only other issue with this room is that the room above would appear to be a family room and we could hear a lot of running around, banging, and shouting. Breakfast was fantastic and there is plenty of free parking. We had a lovely time but wouldn’t return. Côte was great for food."

Rooms can be booked from £111.

Widbrook Grange

Located in Bradford-on-Avon, the Widbrook Grange describes itself as a place to "rest one's weary head". The team aims to make the hotel as romantic as possible and boast that it is close to "great restaurants and attractions".

Roamingdoc2 said: "Don't be put off by the slightly worn carpet & dark furnishings in the entrance hall. This hotel is delightful with eclectic furnishing & decor, friendly staff and a comfortable room. We were fortunate to stay in the Music room and loved it. Huge room with lots of music-themed pictures & furnishings. I was not sure about the bath in the bedroom, but the other half thought it was great and such a big room that it didn't encroach.

"There was a huge en-suite too. Nice selection of tea/coffee which was very welcome after our walks. Slight irritation with being over the front door of the hotel which many guests did not seem to be able to close without slamming, but just a minor niggle.

"Nice to have the pool, which is a fair size for a hotel pool but it is outside the main building & a bit chilly (understandable with current fuel prices). There are walks into Bradford on Avon, which isn't far, from the hotel.

"Both Dinner & Breakfast were imaginative (even for me as a vegetarian), varied, well-cooked & served with a smile. We regretted not using the bar but just didn't get round to it."

Rooms start from £80 per night.

"However the hotel's greatest asset is its staff, each and every one that we came across was helpful and efficient. We really can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

"So lovely to have fresh fruit on arrival in a gorgeous room. We only ate at The Brasserie but the food was delicious, and the waiting service excellent - our waitress remembered my son’s request for a pizza that wasn’t on the menu the previous evening and he was able to have it the next night. Our beds were turned down each evening whilst at dinner with everything replenished."
