Electric cars don't emit exhaust, which is great for city air. But when looking at the whole process, it's different.

In a recent blog post, he referenced a video from Volvo. The video discussed greenhouse gas emissions from making an electric car. The video said the emissions are 70% higher because of the batteries used in electric cars. The video was released before the Cop26 climate conference in Glasgow.

Atkinson said there are other options being developed, like solid-state or hydrogen fuels. But, he also thinks that our attitude towards cars needs to change, not just the technology.

He said the car industry's commercial template is like fast fashion. This is the biggest issue for society's relationship with cars. The three-year lease models make people buy new cars often. But cars can last for 30 years with good care.
