Celebrities are gearing up to make their debut on Dancing On Ice.

Among those taking part in the ITV show competition is former gymnast Nile Wilson. The highly-accomplished athlete, who is from Leeds, is most known for earning an Olympic bronze medal in the men's horizontal bar at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Prior to this, he had already established himself as a world medallist after being part of the successful silver medal-winning British team at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship - the world's first men's team medal in British gymnastics history. Nile has also taken part in the Commonwealth Games, earning the impressive achievement of becoming a five-time champion- his most recent achievement from the games was the all-around title in 2018.

Speaking of his part in Dancing on Ice, the Leeds-born athlete said: "It's happening. Absolutely buzzing to be on the show. Can't wait." Nile, who is partnered with Olivia Smart, also told the Evening Standard that he will be used to the pressure and judging from the competition due to his experience in Gymnastics, stating: "I won't feel disheartened or upset, it's going to be completely normal for me."

Nile's upcoming challenge has been highly anticipated following his announcement in 2021 that he would retire from gymnastics due to injuries he sustained. Since his retirement, Nile, 26, has spent a lot of time and energy with his YouTube channel which has so far garnered 1.57 million subscribers.

Announcing his par tin the show on social media, Dancing On Ice's official account wrote: "Olympic Gymnast @NileMW is ready to take on his next challenge: the ice!"

The gymnast will be performing on Dancing on Ice on Sunday nights at 6.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
