In a Belfast police department, there are three probationary officers portrayed by Siân Brooke, Katherine Devlin, and Nathan Braniff in a new series airing its first season on BBC One in 2023.

In his review of the second season for The Independent, Nick Hilton expressed that while Line of Duty was based in a somewhat nameless city, portraying a disturbing image of life in the suburbs of the Midlands, Blue Lights is heavily focused on capturing the essence of its setting.

Belfast and Northern Ireland are prominent figures in Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson's perspective. The city remains torn apart by conflict, where funeral parades are accompanied by marching bands, and the remnants of the late 20th century continue to haunt the area.

People expressed their enjoyment of the latest episodes on social media, with several fans drawing comparisons to the successful BBC crime drama Line of Duty.

According to an individual's opinion, the TV show Blue Lights is phenomenal and one of the top police dramas in present-day television. The drama does not contain any political motives, rather it portrays the actuality of police work in Northern Ireland and how the unrest during the times of troubles has impacted the residents' lives. The work of a police officer in NI comes with perils, and the level of criminal activities is quite significant.

One person expressed that the return of Blue Lights is impressive and is considered one of the top police shows of recent times, which was agreed upon by someone else.

I am filled with anticipation for the return of Blue Lights tonight. The actors are outstanding, the setting is marvelous, and the script and storylines are superb. I recently re-watched the first series, which only served to reinforce my belief that it is the most exceptional drama series in years. Another individual noted that it brings back the same feelings as when they first watched Line of Duty.

You can now stream the series on BBC iPlayer.

In a fresh discussion with The Independent, the lead star Brooke clarified the reasons for her agreement to be a part of the project.

She expressed her admiration for the written work by stating, "I am completely enamored with the writing style. It's smart and easy to understand. It's easy to assume that individuals in uniform have a wealth of experience and knowledge, therefore, it seems impossible that they are beginning their career today."

Blue Lights is focused on three new members, namely Grace, Katherine Devlin's Annie, and Nathan Braniff's Tommy. This allows viewers to experience their journey alongside them, making the experience more immersive and engaging. Rather than feeling separated, the audience is intimately involved in the story.
