Billie Eilish has urged individuals to refrain from discussing her sexual orientation after a magazine publicly revealed it without her consent.

During a recent interview with US outlet Variety, the artist known as Bad Guy implied that she feels a romantic pull towards people of the same gender.

During the Hitmakers awards event by the magazine over the weekend, Billie was requested on camera if she had intended to reveal her sexuality.

Billie sarcastically expressed her gratitude towards Variety for "exposing" her rather than discussing topics that are more significant.

The publisher has been reached out to for comment by BBC Newsbeat.

Even though Billie appeared to be in good spirits during her conversation on the red carpet on Saturday, her post on Instagram was not as relaxed.

She expressed her gratitude to Variety for giving her the award, but criticized them for focusing on the red carpet instead of discussing important matters with her at 11am.

I have a preference for both males and females, and I would appreciate it if no one bothers me about it. Honestly, it's not a big deal.

In a recent interview published in a popular magazine on November 13th, Billie talks about her experiences as a young woman in the public eye and expresses feeling scared or overwhelmed by other women.

The 21-year-old expressed to Variety that they have never truly found it easy to connect with girls.

I have a strong affection towards them. I appreciate them for who they are as individuals. I find them appealing and am genuinely drawn to them.

Billie and her brother and partner in music, Finneas, received an accolade for their track titled "What Was I Made For."

At the weekend's red carpet event, someone inquired about her sexual orientation and she replied, "I wasn't aware that individuals were unaware."

However, she also expressed her disbelief in the concept of "coming out" and the notion that individuals should be obligated to disclose their sexual orientation.

"She asked why can we not simply be present?" "I've been living like this for an extended period and haven't spoken about it," she declared.

Billie partnered with her brother Finneas to receive the accolade of Film Song of the Year for their composition, What Was I Made For, bestowed by Barbie.
